Colorado Vail Resorts

Yo homies....So I'm attending Colorado State University in FOCO next year and I'm trying to get an idea of summit county skiing because I'm gonna be getting an epic pass. Could some people give a description of the mountains if that's possible? I know the mountains parks are all dope which I'm not worried about I'm just trying to figure out what the terrain is like. So far the most appealing resorts I've seen is Vail and Beaver Creek. Vail looks like it has some dope ass cliffs and sick pow days, and BC doesn't have the crowds and touristy resort feel like other resorts...So yeah anybody that's been to any of the epic Colorado resorts just give me and idea! Peace!

PS I've skied Crested Butte and loved it because it was suuuuper steep and technical but their park was kinda whack tbh...

vail and bc have terrible parks. vail is really only good on pow days. Breck has a great park but the rest of the mountain is pretty easy. not much big mountain opportunities. Same with keystone

Beaver Creek is probably the most touristy resort , followed closely by Vail. A-Basin is the least touristy, Keystone isn't too touristy either.

I think Vail has the best terrain all around, followed by A-Basin and Breck. I think Keystone is super boring outside the park. BC has literally one good pocket of terrain, the rest is groomers.

Breck and Key have the best parks. Vail's park is actually decent, although it doesn't open until mid January and is usually in pretty rough shape by mid March.

Breck is the most touristy. Ask people who know nothing about winter sports to name a ski resort and they will say Breckenridge, Colorado!

Abay has the most concentrated cliffs and technical lines and is the most hardcore of the epic mountains. Keystone is the best if you want to ski park. Vail is amazing on a powder day and has lots of cliffs as well, I feel like its a more touristy Abay. Breck is fun but a little flat. Beaver Creek is the most touristy but there are great tree runs.

disagree with a lot of that. vails park is pretty sick, it's just that no one is ever there solely to ski park. also breck has some great terrain if you know where to go . agreed on keystone though, besides the outback bowl there's not that much great terrain

relative to breck and key, vail has a pretty shitty park. relative to your average resort, it has a pretty good park. I have yet to find cliffs at breck but i havent explored the whole mountain

Abasin is my favorite resort of the ones in the area. Abasin has the best steeps from what I have seen. Most of the people I know who live in Denver spend their time there.

Yeah Vail doesn't have free parking...
Beaver Creek is always overlooked because it's between bigger mountains
Like everyone else said, tourists go to Breck & Keystone but they also have the most notable parks
Abasin is the best. Get ready for spring beach days next season.

Try to stack all your classes on the same days so you're not just a weekend warrior. The weekend traffic gets insane especially when it's snowing. I lived in Summit and people couldn't even drive home from 2 miles away because of traffic.

Coming from FOCO, Keystone, Abasin and Breck are your best bets. Basin is so dope when there is good snow, a51 at keystone is the shit. Fuck Breck, dont go there

In terms of park skiing I'd rank the Vail area mountains in this order:
Keystone
Breckenridge
Vail
Beaver Creek
Abasin

In terms of BC/SC terrain I'd rank them:
Abasin
Vail
Keystone
Beaverk Creek
Breckenridge

While Breck has a good park, the mountain is pretty flat. IMO, Beaver Creak is still pretty dang touristy. Of all the Epic pass mountains A Basin has the least amount of tourists. When tourists think Colorado skiing they usually think Vail Resorts... like you. Epic pass is definitely not the best pass for the money in CO.

If it isn't the best pass for your money what would you say is? I also have a ton of homies in Utah so I plan on staying with them during vacas so I'll be able to ski PC which will be nice

Honestly I thought the epic pass was a pretty good deal - I could ski at a lot of places in Colorado and Tahoe. Plus my work had medallions to copper and loveland so I didn't miss out on any of the nearby mountains. The only other multiple resort pass I can think of in Colorado is the Rocky Mountain one?

The Rocky Mountain Super Pass + is a good one. There's others too. But if you're finna go to PC a few times then Epic would be the move.

I went to Vail for spring break as my first trip out West. The mountain itself is huge and has a huge variety of stuff to ski. You can't really go wrong with Vail. And the village is pretty cool too, they have restaurants and ski shops n stuff. There weren't many lines but it was pretty busy.

I never got shut out parking at the park down the road. Never went on stupid holidays though. I dig that they have a shuttle too. Although having a parking pass there is always a bonus.
