My freshman year of college my friends and I went skiing on shrooms. The whole thing was a fucking trip, but one moment in particular stands out as Joey-y. I managed to sign the shit necessary to get a ticket and put it on my zipper. Little did I know I did it in such a way that when I zipped it up the ticket fluttered in my face. This is annoying, but on shrooms it was kinda worse for me. My friend saw and said "fuckin Joey" and it cracked me up so much, because I thought I was so much better than my friends cause they never really skied. Shit was funny.
Some years ago on the seasons first day with brand new skis I went full speed down the slope attempting to get enough speed to slide all the way over to the cafeteria, this was in the dark and what I had forgotten was that it was only snow on the slopes and everything else were just gravel. You can probably imagine I fell pretty hard and completely messed up my new bases/edges with plenty of core shots. Worst part is my snowboarding friend also on a brand new board went like 30 seconds behind me but didn't pay attention so he ended up doing the exact same thing.
In my first year skiing I had some line masterminds and a dc snowboarding jacket. I thought I was the shit. Flash forward to me chilling in the lift line with the homies and deciding to show off my totatally sick and radical nose press. I got those skis nice and bent...and then I double ejected and stuck my face about six inches into the snow in front of forty people. I probably should have cranked my bindings...
my first backflip attempts were on a 10 foot jump with an icyass landing. caught tips my first two attempts, over-rotated my third attempt and suffered a compression fracture in my upper spine. was quite the day.
as for being a jerry off skis, i once tried to steal candy from a froyo place and got caught in the act. got yelled at by a big scary black dude in front of all my friends lol.

That's what my first post ^^ is, my first try at a backflip to tip catch. Mind you I landed my second.
Off skis one time I tried a running front flip off a bridge with a jump over the railing. I'd done a standing one from the ledge, but never a run and jump one. I laid it out, did a little tuck, and laid it out again straight to my stomach. My splash made it above the 40 foot railing and the spectators at said railing. Once again I tried another after and landed a perfect double, but my stomach was red and bruised for a week.
I can't remember if it was a holiday or just the weekend, either way it was a busy day on the hill. As I was weaving through people I went to pop off a little cat track that ran across the run. As I came down I landed in the upside of a mogal and exploded into a yard sale. Felt like a total Jerry as I turfed it hard right in front of all the people I had just passed.
I was skiing Homewood with my Uncle when I was 10. We took a couple runs down the face and I started to get a little to cocky and decided to jump off a mogul. I tomahawked then slide half down the run right under the chairlift.
SO many good stories where to start that's the question..
Exhibit A
- I went on a trip out west to Schweitzer this January and we got 8-10 fresh inches of powder my second day there. Feeling pretty invincible in this new powder and not the typical east coast ice I decided to send it off the first cliff I could find.... That cliff ended up having a nice solid groomed catwalk for a landing about 15 feet down. Needless to say I double ejected out of my demos (With a din of 4) and did a scorpion in front of a group of 10 year old kids who proceeded to lose their minds laughing at me.

- Later that day, mere hours after the events of (Exhibit A), I found another cliff to huck. This one was right under the lift and had nice sized kicker. I had read about the spot before coming to Schweitzer (I believe its called Tower 9 Jump) and on my way up the lift I watch some skier launch a massive layout backie over 40 feet off the thing. Of course I then realized I had to do this send a backie and send the footy to the boys back home. Asking my father to record me I climbed all the way to the top of the run in and turned on my favorite pump up tunes. I then dropped in from the top and did not speed check. About five feet infront of the lip hurtling towards it at a ludicrous speed I realized my mistake. I tried to absorb the the jump as best I could but still flew over 100ft through the air (Or so im told from those on the lift who then came rushing down to see if I was alive). I hit the ground so I that even in the fresh snow my helmet and goggles were ripped of my head and my spine condensed so quiickly I couldn't stand up straight for days. Moral of the story is avoid cliff son't go over them. (If you want I have the vbideo of the crash and I can post it here i'm just too lazy rn)
Had to crash test a 15 foot poppy jump on a pow day and knuckled into a massive yard sale. Then i tried my first real dfd with too much speed and that flat kink threw me and somehow i landed on my butt on the opposite side of the rail. Usually i need more speed than most people so I thought I would compensate for that but i was dead wrong.
Tried to gap a rainbow rail and dot WAY to much speed. I look down and I'm almost 10 feet up and it is flat bellow me. When I hit the ground I bounced out of me skis landed on my face and did a total scorpion. It was pretty funny too because a few of my friends were on the lift and saw me.
I once got a concussion from doing a 180 off a 5 foot jump because I carved too much lol in front of everybody, but now if I fail a misty 5 people won't laugh
My brain and my pride. For some reason went riding for a few laps still fucked up the next day and was still hitting the park. But had fucked headaches for like a year and a half.
When i was like 10 yo i went on a chair lift with others but didnt fit onto the lift, got hit in the back by the railing of the lift while on the mat that is slower than the lift and flew from my bindings onto my face :D
I know I have more jerry moments but recently I cut off a line of little kids and their ski instructor as they were waiting to hit this flat box in the baby park. She said, "you're an adult, dude" and I didn't know what to say back because I am an adult. So I left.
I went to do this really shitty house thing and was going like 35mph my skis just got stuck 2 feet into it and I fell over. Lost both skis and poles. Funniest shit ever.
I once tried gapping 2 rollers. I took off the first, knuckled the second hard, and flew off it flying parallel to the ground. Then I broke a weird bone in my shoulder and was out for the most of the season. Fun times.
once after wrapping up a safety meeting i put my skis back on then immediately caught them between two trees and toppled over. but my skis were obviously stuck between the trees still so my friends just pelted me with snowballs while i had to get out of my skis essentially upside down.
One of my hardest falls this season was when I was going like 5mph down a catwalk texting and somehow caught an edge or hit something and slammed hard as fuck. I've never fallen so hard going so slow before lmao.
oh man this season produced a couple good ones. The first was I was hand dragging the big rainbow box ( crazy train for any MN/ hyland locals), I went fast and got the drag/ grab real nice but immediately flew over the landing and landed flat on my side. Luckily in true MN spring fashion I landed in about half a foot of mashed potatoes,
The second good one was me and my friends were skiing mount Rose and we had just stashed our packs up in the trees and there was a small drop that one of my friends popped off of and when I went to hit it I clipped a small tree and faceplanted

Worked myself in a coulie with a blind exit at a basin, had no idea what was in the landing or how big the cliff was, just had to send it and hope it didnt die because there was NO way out. Turned out it was nice and soft at the bottom, but the cliff was a solid 35 feet, and i ate shit so hard down the face i broke my helmet....
One time one of my friends asked me if I could film him with his phone on a DFD. I said sure and filmed him. I got the shot and was stoked for him and as I was skiing to give him back his phone I somehow caught both my edges in the slush and ate complete shit. I panicked and held up his phone to save it from getting damaged since he also happened to not have a case. Ended up getting ice burns on one of my hands cause I didnt have my gloves on cause I was just filming him. BUT, I still saved his phone with my other hand. lol

dan38I'm a lot closer to the camera look at me compared to the tree where I land we actually went checked the trees height out later that day
But you wouldnt really be able to use the tree as a reference point because its farther away from the camera and you are closer to the camera. Maybe im wrong though lol.
