So this has been pretty huge lately.. Post up them memes. Post up your opinion. Post up whatever you want.

It took place on one of United Airlines' "contracted Express carriers, separately owned and operated by Republic Airline." Does that change anything? Who does the guy have standing to sue?

This past December, I was flying from Syracuse, NY back to Austria on United and it was God awful. They had oversold my flight from Syracuse to DC, bumped me off without any compensation whatsoever, could not book me on any other flight that day or the next, and was forced to drive 3 hours to Buffalo to get a connecting flight to Detroit in order to fly to Austria.

United sucks at life so much, they are an absolute disaster of an airline. Perfect example of a corporation that does the absolute bare minimum and doesn't give a shit about anyone they piss off.

Never thought i'd agree with you to any point. Cell phone cameras really make it so everyone has to be PC, its nice in some situations like the cops abusing their power, but ive read a bunch of things about how United didnt even kick him off, it was the federal officers, just following their federal laws, which no one knows those rules because they dont read the fine print. Its a shame it was such a shit show situation, United maybe could have dealt with the issue before people boarded the plane, but so many flights and expectations of on time departure caused this to turn into a dumpster fire.

I was reading this article that a pilots wife wrote and she made a great point (and many others) about how if you got dragged off a flight, why the fuck would you go back on the flight? Homeland security is probably one of the most strict law enforcement in our country, you do what they say or else you might get shipped to cuba.

Regardless of the situation, United's sales wont go down either, by next month everyone will have forgotten. United will still overbook flights, nothing will change. Ah well.

You're just lucky they don't pick who to remove based on weight, which would actually make the most sense economically. Hell, if they made you pay for two seats (as they should) they'd free up two seats by only removing one person. However, I can see it being a worker's comp nightmare for those tasked with "voluntary removal" haha.

I'm tired of paying good money for a plane seat, only to have the person next to me overflowing halfway into my seat.

Absolutely this. My girlfriends father flies United and the amount of stupidity surrounding this whole scene is amazing.

The guy left the flight and accepted the free flight plus like 800 dollars. He then decided to be a little bitch and run back onto the flight (now without a ticket) and pull a sit in on his seat.

He didn't have a ticket at this point...and had absolutely no right to be in that seat.

The United express (not even united....contracted pilots) called security. Security took it from there. The people beating the shit out of him had no relation to United. Plus...he pretty much forced their hand. Last time I checked barging onto a flight with no ticket and refusing to leave is a huge no no.

That being said these memes are hilarious

Regardless, the point still stands that from an economic standpoint, overweight passengers cost the airlines more to transport, making them prime candidates for voluntary removal.

That seems to go against most accounts of this story. The passenger was asked at random to leave the flight once he was already seated. Denial of boarding at the terminal is an acceptable practice, but once a passenger is already in his/her seat that rule no longer applies. He was forcefully removed, to the point that his nose and 2 of his teeth were broken, and in his concussed state ran back onto the plane.

Not sure how anyone could side with United here, they fucked up real bad.

Yeah, although if the guy was Muslim he'd be getting tortured in Guantanamo right now.

It was a logistical fuck up, but I don't think United is uniquely bad in how they handled it, this could have been any airline. If you disobey law enforcement on an airplane, you are going to have a bad time. He got his face on an armrest or something in the scuffle, it's not like they pistol whipped him in the face.

Yes. He was randomly selected and he was indeed already seated. But after he was selected he agreed to leave the flight for the money and flight blah blah. He sat back down and refused to leave after accepting the fact.

United Express....once again not actually united....then realized that the man was not leaving and called in airport security who did all of the shit you see.

Along with this, when you purchase a ticket you agree to abide by the rules of the airline.

United didn't beat the shit out of the guy. The pilot did not come out if the cabin with some brass knuckles like everybody is making it seem. The security(not sure on the security company name in this situation...i was told but forgot) did all of the beating....they should be taking the blame as they were indeed out of line. Which I think you can agree with
