Should I take my skis with me out west

If I'm going to hood this week should I spend the extra money bringing my 80 mm park skis with me on the flight and my crappy old boots or just rent the performance twin tips at timberline. Wouldn't it be more expensive to bring them with me also?

A good chance your crappy old boots are still better than rental boots.

If you have a ski bag, its no more expensive than any other checked bag.
If you don't and are looking for one, buy a double bag. I throw my boots, helmet, coat, pants, gloves..pretty much all my shit fits in it.

Don't they have a mail service for travelling with skis yet? They have it for golf clubs

def bring your boots unless they're bad enough that rentals will be better (very unlikely!)

Probably bring your skis. If you have to rent you will find a better price at Mountainology or most anyplace other than Timberline. When I have flown with skis I didn't have to pay anything extra but that was Southwest. I hope they don't grope you too bad at the airport. Have fun at Hood!

My recent experience with United was that they charged $25 each way for skis. An extra boot bag is included in that, so if you're going to take skis may as well check your boots too. But, I could have rented skis and carried by boots in my backpack for a slightly lower total cost.

I always say if you're going to spend money to go on a ski trip, you should just put down a few extra bucks and bring your own equipment. You will be more comfortable and will have a better time on your trip.

I'm like 90% the rental boots at tline are Rossignol Allspeeds. If your boots aren't as nice as those then you probably shouldn't bring them.

Bring them you don't want to get stuck with skis/boots you may not like and having deal with them

I hate demo bindings so I always bring my
skis. Boots aren't even an option for me as I would have a terrible time in anything besides my own.
