Help me get a camera (i used the "what camera? form)

I am open to spending up to $900 and investing more later if that is what is required.

I have some experience with DSLRs and am currently using a gopro to make crappy edits.

I have a good variety of mounts for my gopro and a standard tripod but nothing besides that.

This camera will be mostly for skiing but I will also be shooting skate edits and maybe a short film.

I would be ok with a camera that is simple enough to use with no experience or one with lots of control.

I do a lot of follow cams so hopefully it has good stabilization but that could be a later investment.

i got the Canon sl1 refurbished on the canon website for 350. It is small, but really easy to use, because it has t touchscreen. If you are willing to spend a little more the canon t7i is a good choice, and it has the flip out screen

Cop yourself a gh3 for $500 and a couple lenses, would be a good start. Consider spending some money on stabilization too, tripod and/or a handle or glidecam.

At this point though, I wouldn't even consider buying a canon DSLR, the panasonic GH3 blows everything out of the water at your price range.

Also, what types of lenses are most useful for ski edits?

It really depends on what kind of shot you want. Fisheye for close up rail shots, wide lens for follows, then anywhere from 24-300 for tripod work. What are you hoping to do?

I will be doing a lot of follows and some close up type shots as well, I have yet to experiment with tripods a whole lot but i am open to anything. do you have any recommendations for cheap stabilizers?

Panasonic g7. I have it and its amazing. Its great in low light, has 4k video, weighs barely anything, hella affordable, and so versatile. takes super high quality pictures too.
