Now as the title said i believe this to be a myth. However recently, compelling evidnce to its creditbility has been brought to my attention. Does anyone know if its true or not??
Apparently in October 1995 some crazy skier by the name of PAUL AHERN set a world record cliff jump of 225ft above laker alta, New Zealand. Now sccording to basic physics he would have reached terminal velocity and would have probably left a crater the size of a Chevy Surburban in the powder upon landing. Now here is the freaky bit, he suffered a fractured sternum and winded the fuck out of himself but managed to ski back to base camp!!!!
Does anyone know the story behind this?? is it real or not???

Yea it's true, it was into some massive slush and the crater was supposedly 6 feet deep or whatever. He's known for hanging around a lot of big mountain comps and always telling stories about how he's almost died a million times.
225... that's not just balsy that's just... I dunno retarded??? How can you look down from something that high and be like... well i should be alright?!?! I forget how many g's they said he hit w/, something like 30, and supposedly most airplane crashes are 17.soemthing.

Yah i heard about that one too, but when i heard it i was told it happened in 1998 and the video was going to be in some movie the following year. When i didn't see it in any movies, i figured it didn't happen.
That's completly retarded. lol 'i should be ok..' wtf. Something half that size would scare the shit out of anyone..fuck 1/3 that size is pretty damn scary. Must be weird going through life being perfectly willing to try to kill yourself for bragging rights.

Yeah its true. Ive seen the cliff he jumped of in the Remarkables backcountry. Well its sorta within the field boundary. If anyone has ever been to the remarkables you go up the shadow basin quad, hike to the ridge, hike round the ridge, hike some more. You are now at the top of a big f**k off cliff :D
You would have to be very unhinged to jump off there.

yeah ive got that issue, its a bloddy huge jump, its part of a section that is the top ten sickest airtimes by skiers, i think candide came in ninth with his d-spin over chads.
