McGregor could be throwing punches a few inches away, and Mayweather would just be able to move in the right direction and avoid the fight. That is why i say it is going to be very hard for McGregor to land a punch with that powerful left hand of his. Also Mayweather isnt scared to fight against the ropes, in fact he likes it, he will purposely pull his opponent for them to fight him against the ropes. On the contrary, if a UFC fighter is against the cage he is pretty much fucked, so if Mayweather ever got McGregor against the ropes i think he would be fucked

when McGregor gets schooled by Mayweather you will just see the guy bitching and complaining like crazy and him saying well im not a boxer, or i didnt have enough time to trains, etc. So i really dont understand why McGregor called him out, other than to try to get publicity by dropping the Mayweather name

bdarb207He called him out because it's the biggest money fight and he's outgrown everyone in the UFC (from a fame standpoint - there's still a lot of tough fights for him there but not nearly as lucrative). If Macgregor has a shot he's going to have to tie Mayweather up a lot and get close shots in. Like you said, he'll have a hell of a time catching him in the open.

It's not Mayweathers style to attack and keep him against the ropes, he's a counter puncher. With that in mind, he's not screwed if Mayweather gets him on the ropes. He has a solid chin and Mayweather won't knock him out on top of it just likely won't happen. I think a lot of how you see this playing out is a bit off because you seem to underestimate a lot of the skills he has as a mma fighter. Granted, it's a completely different sport. But there are sills like knockout power, and ability to take a shot that will actually be in Conor's favor.

bdarb207Absolutely agree. But there are more factors that need to be taken into account. Mayweather is fast but getting old. Macgregor is in his prime and as fit as anyone. He also has more power, and a stronger chin.

To speak to the shit talking though, Macgregor has been the one pushing this but the reason he went quiet is because Dana White and the UFC is putting up roadblocks to this happening. He needed to talk enough to get Mayweather committed, but he couldn't pull the trigger because he is under contract with UFC. He can leverage the Ali act but still ultimately needs the higher ups to sign off. So right now I suspect he is in negotiations about terms with the UFC.

bdarb207He does. He was 10% owner but he's still on after the buyout though it's questionable how much of a say he actually has. For the sake of argument, suffice it to say he could be a major road block in this getting done if he wants to.

Duncan is one of the few I haven't followed after hearing him on there. I listen to Tony Hinchcliffe, Tom Segura, Bert Kreishcer, Bryan Callen and Joey Diaz quite a lot. There some of the main guys featured on there. Would recommend looking into their shows if you haven't. I'll check out Duncan's show.

Mayweather has fought the biggest name opponents there is, for him to box with a guy that has absolutely ZERO professional boxing credentials is a complete joke. There should be no chance in hell of this happening. But it very well could because he knows what he's doing. Also, you haven't taken into account that mcgregor trains with smaller gloves, giving him a better chance of connecting with bigger ones and vice versa, bigger softer gloves should make it far more difficult for Mayweather to knock someone with a granite chin out. Especially because he is a defensive fighter.

doublecuphim training with smaller gloves his whole MMA career could also be problematic for him when he puts on boxing gloves though and throw off his precision and timing due to the muscle memory that he has established using MMA gloves, and he may not be throw his punches the same way when he uses boxing gloves
