Yeah, when one of my best buddies died I felt really number for a long time. Climbing as much as i could is what helped me

My grandpa died a week ago and it sucked. when I got the call I was home alone and had a breakdown which I honestly think wasn't a bad thing. Letting the emotions go helps you work through them. I went skiing the next day with some of my uncles at the hill where they all skied together as a family and I stopped at the top of my Grandpa's favourite run, stood there for a minute in the sun with a bit of snow coming down, thought about him, clinked my poles and got some killer turns with his motto "Enjoy" in the back of my mind.

I just recommend doing something the person loved and thinking about them. Additionally, letting the emotions go honestly is allows you to feel a lot better afterwards.

OP i just want to add that you should just let yourself deal with it in good time and don't stress yourself over what you "should" be doing or acting like. whoever you lost, live your life in a way that would make them proud, and try to keep a piece of them around by applying the best traits and ideas that you gained from them to your life

do stuff that memorializes and honors them and let your emotions go sometimes like the guy i quoted said. but keep your head up, they would want you to be happy most of all :)

For me it was really helpful to just try and have zero down time. I was always looking for things to occupy myself so I wasn't spending time sulking in my room alone. If you find a new hobby or can hang out with people then definitely do that, just try and not be alone

Go skiing, idk about the rest of you but the only thing that makes me feel ok about what I personally did is something that helps at least a little bit.

Like others have said, don't be afraid to show/let out your emotions, it's all part of the process. When you're ready to/have the right person, I found talking helped, It may be tough for a while or may not be, either way try not to bottle it up. There isn't a normal or right way to get over it, everyone does there own thing and don't think you need to be doing something specific or there's a magical way to fix it/make you feel better. Time will help. Close/meaningful company will help. Getting back into your routine will help. Like others said ski or do whatever you love doing most to help get your mind off it and enjoy yourself. Cherish the memories.
(If it's part of your beliefs)Live you're life knowing they're watching over you and make them proud, not necessarily by doing what they wanted you to do with your life, but with the type of person you are/your character.

Just realized I kinda went against what I said about everyone being different and there is no normal or right way to do this. When I was saying " _____ will help" those were just something's that helped me get through losing my father.
