voyry. My dad said that when he was a kid they got 2 feet of snow several times a winter
Film.I'm taking a class on it right now at CU. Yes it is very real, but remember there's a difference between weather and climate. Using your dad as an example is a good reference, I just hate those people that when there's a nice day in the winter instantly attribute it to global warming.

ttelrabYo same exact opinion here after part of a class this semester, freshman at cu what class you in haha
eheathThis. Dramatic changes in 10 years is weather. We won't see the full effect of what we've done to the earth for decades but by the time it's really a problem it will be too late.
Film.Personally I think the saddest part about it all is the U.S could do everything in its power to cut emissions, and the earth would still be fucked by China's non existent pollution regulations.
eheathBut the USA is a world leader, if we dont change china wont.
Film.Humans gotta work together on this
snowfinderI dont believe in it , but I do understand how facts and data work and know it is true.

brotoi mean china is arguably doing more for renewable energy than the US already these days out of necessity. and because of our dickwad of a president
Henry.VIts really interesting though because scientists have figured out how to capture carbon, but then what do we do with it? They've been able to inject it into certain stones, but there is no large process for doing anything with it right now. What we need is a way to solidify the carbon once it is captured - then we would be able to use it as a building resource.
TheDoughAbideschina is destroying us in the solar energy market these days.
SessionFrom an installation perspective. Yes, China installs more renewables. They also have 4 times the population and a massive manufacturing base to use all of that energy. And they just slam stuff in the ground. The US market is a bit different as renewables(at least wind) are moving away from a subsidized model to one where the LCOE(levelized cost of energy) makes renewables competetive without subsidies. But the installation has to make sense. The wind has to be there consistent for the turbines to pay for themselves. The rules in China are a bit different.
Source: I work for the largest turbine manufacturer in the world.
voyryWe need to find a way to get the greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. That's what's warming the globe up.
Film.we need greenhouses gases to live, without them the earth would be very cold and couldn't sustain life.
.otto.why....
but op its fucking childish to look outside and just say global warming- people could do the same against you if its cold and snowy and claim not global warming- its a lot more complicated than just what you see...
voyryI am a firm believer in global warming. These past two winters have been the worst I've ever experienced in my life. Winter is so short nowadays. My dad said that when he was a kid they got 2 feet of snow several times a winter, and now it happens once in every 10 years here in PA. I would make a poll but I'm on mobile. Drop your thoughts.
snowfinderPeople believe in bigfoot and angles, By saying do you believe in global warming gives room for the stupid to chime in and say no i dont blah blah blah Rush and Trump said China made it up. When you present it as it is something real they cant say shit because you have the facts and data to back it up, and they have recycled talking points from the 70s for cigs.
LonelyClimate change sucks but the human race will kill itself out eventually and everything will go back to how it should be
DrailHow it should be...
Is that referring to the time in Earth's history before liquid water was a thing?
Or,
Is that referring to the time when there wasn't really any oxygen in the atmosphere?
Or,
Is that referring to the time of the ice age when the entire planet froze, including the oceans?
Or perhaps it's referring to the time in the future (approximately 600 000-800 000 million years from now) when the atmosphere's CO2 levels drop to the point that photosynthesis becomes impossible, making the earth once again almost completely depleted of oxygen causing all multicellular life to die out.
My point is - climate change has been one of the very, very few constants in Earth history.
"Global Warming" and "Climate Change" as we discuss it is about human activity speeding up the natural process. Don't be fooled that the last 10 000 years is "how it should be" or normal in any sense of the word.
It's easier to look at California and the Sierra Nevada as something we can grasp in our timeframe over the big picture. When Americans got to and settled in California the Sierra Nevada had a healthy annual snowpack providing the necessary water for a substantial population. Eventually 'we' learned that the reality of the situation is more similar to the so called drought that has been affecting the area the past 5 years. A dry Sierra Nevada is more common than wet and cold since the last ice age. Just like annual weather changes (winter/summer, dry/wet seasons), the ebb and flow of climate in the medium, long, and astrological time is something you can't be judged on current weather observations.
