please don't try and pretend you know more about fishing than me, I appreciate the criticism tho man. A trout won't die from being out of the water for that long... It's a really old and mature hardy fish, this isn't a little 9inch native brook trout you're used to catching in your creeks. This is a Seeforellen German strain Brown Trout... it's in their blood to be a tough fish, it's NOT a "brown trout" this is a brown on roids. They're used to migrating back and forth from the ocean, pretty sure some finger tips barely in its gill plate won't do any damage whatsoever.
And fuck you, kid. I'm not a spin fisherman, shows how much you know about fishing lulz.
Thanks everyone else who actually had something good to say! Best feeling ever watching a fish that big swim away!

this is the exact lure I caught it on, pic is from that day, she annihilated it, probably thought it was a big shiner or bluegill
Dude you spin fish i saw your rod and you even posted a lure .
the oils/grease of your hand are very harmful to the fish's .then your juggling the fish like a little kid
say I don't know about fishing ive been fly fishing eh since i was 9 started tying shortly after that haven't stopped since.
I've done brief online and shop sales for flys . I was invited to tie for a fly fishing expo in Idaho.Id say i have a good knowledge of fish behavior from articles, videos observing a group of 30 cutys from egg to 3in when they were released all properly cooled and habitated . I've fished all over Idaho and Wyoming for trout and steel head .

1. that's a baitcast rod/reel, not spin. not the same at all.
2. There were no oils on my hands because i PROPERLY rinsed them i nthe lake before landing the fish.
3. Lol... juggling like a little kid? The thing is 25+ pounds of pure muscle, not to mention I was in a state of pure awe of what I had just caught. The fish was fine, it didn't die. It'll be okay, I promise.
You don't know about this species dude, you are an inland fisherman, this is a SEA TROUT. They aren't fragile like the ones you are used to.
Love how fly fisher"man" think they're all that on and off the water.

humans have oils on there hands not from other reasons from our self we just do and it's harmful when in their gills. It doesn't Mater if you rinse your hands. You should always wet your hands before handling to to protect their cuticle layer.

Calling me that is probably one of the biggest compliments you could give me. Hes a damn legend
intifadaI don't get the elitism in the fishing community. it's fishing, you're catching a fish with a metal hook, take it easy with the fisher bro attitude.
Fly fishermen are usually the elitests. They seem to go out of their way to try and trash every other method of fishing more than anyone else

Nice. Catching that would be like winning the powerball. Congrats

Can confirm this. Except most of the fly fisherman I see on the river have been extremely helpful if I've had any questions.
I really only talk down on the people that use those piece of shit fly rods that can convert to a spinner. Fuck, those guys are the gapers of the fishing world.

Also fuck all the kayakers in Wisconsin that go down a river with little to no rapids and then start scraping the bottom of the river and turn the water from crystal clear to shit brown.
D.B.This is true. But there's the occasional “I only fish dry file types” that mostly have a biased view on different Fly Fishing techniques.
I've meet a couple of those they just end up missing out running the wrong stuff .dry flys are sick tho nothing cooler then spotting a feeding fish and float one right over and watch em take it from the top .
