The year 3000

In the last 100 years our technology has advanced greatly, its taken leaps and bounds that we couldnt have forseen. This doesnt mean that people didnt pridict, through popular mediums like movies and magazines, what everything would be like in the year 2000. Most of them were off... we dont have hover cars or personal jet packs or colonies on the moon. But we do have technologies like computers and cell phones that would have been just as far fetched to the people 100 years ago. Im just asking what you think the state of technology is going to be in the year 3000. Will technoogies that we cant even begin to imagin now? or will our technology advance to a point where it cant advance any further, what would that point be?

I have no clue what it will be like. But, everytime I watch a movie older than pre-cellphone era, it seems so weird. Just yesterday, I'm flipping through channels. James Bond gets out of his car and proceeds to the phone booth, where some lady cuts in front of him. So, James freaking Bond has to wait to make his phone call until this lady is done. Very ironic that one of the guys who had access to all of those cool technologies (via Q) was reliant upon a public pay phone.

On another note, the first twenty or so years of a technological revoulution are the slowest. I.e. the least amount of innovation. What this means is the next 0 - 50 years of the technology revolution will be insane.

we wont make it to 3000 for various reasons. but in the not so near future, space travel will be abandoned, and attempts to preserve what we have on this earth will me made, hardcore. everything, and i mean everything, will be eco-friendly soon.

i honesty dont think well make it that long but if we do itll be because we found a new way to live, like civilization as we know it wont exist, because the way our civilization is designed wont work for much longer, the way daniel quinn puts it in 'Ishmael' our civilization has a cruicial flaw, it works fine for the first few thousand years where we are procreating like mad and dominationg everything, but our population grows exponentially and eventually we grow out of our resources and theres nothing well be able to do, so if we can find a new way to live before we get to that point we might be ok but they say you have to hit rock bottom, anyways after that happens if theyres anybody left theyre going to start rebuilding and hopefully theyll learn from our mistakes

Spyderxtra789 and MacMahoooon, Never once did i say in 100 years... You kids gotta check your reading skills. I didnt even do any math in my question, i quite clearly stated 'Im just asking what you think the state of technology is going to be in the year 3000.'

I personaly think that we are going to have a technological regression, Its already starting to happen. We for the most part dont understand how the tools we use daily work or why they work. One day it will get to the point where only a few people know how things work and the majority wont. When things start to break down and stop working, we wont know how to fix them and we will return to a simpler kind of living.

i don't thin we will make it that far, but if we do, its along the lines of what lanks said: people will forget about space travel, space colonies, space elivators, and focuse on the major problems that the earth has, some dictator will take over some big country and start a mass murder condoned by the UN to end the world population problem (like the extermination of all muslims, or blacks, or handicaps...), and there will definately be a technological regression, because as someone said up there no one will understand the technology they are using or people scrap the good ideas (concorde for example), the intebnet will crash because of some virus and the anti christ will show up...

if you look at the last 20 years or so, our progress technologically has been slacking compared to the earlier half of the century. I don't know how much we will improve, someone will probably have a huge breakthrough again like e=mc2 and everything will speed up like crazy. But honestly by year 3000, i bet we will all be dead and the world will be destroyed by a nuclear war or whatever horrific bombs we have invented by then.

2. We overpollute our resources and run out of viable drinking water and all or most of us die
3. We become more adept at managing our resources, curb global warming, find alterative sources of renewable energy, keep making vaccines and live for a thousand more years

I think in the year 3000 the world will be soo populated that they will start making big islands on the oceans to populate more people, I also believe that teleportation will eventually become possible.
