Rossignol kills the Slat

So i got a look at the new rossignol line up and there is no longer the slat. If you want something just under 100mm underfoot you need the Rossignol Sky 7 HD yet its not an all mountain twin. Its part of their new carbon/paulownia line.

What gives?

black ops 98 next year, just chill till then its not like the slat was better than most other twin tips.

They didn't have the Black Ops at SIA either. Maybe they aren't done?

The Slat was probably my favorite overall out of the skis I've owned. It could go anywhere, held up well going mac 3 with little chatter, had a good flex for park after being broken in, and even did well in a little bit of powder. Bummed to see it get discontinued.

It's probably because Rossi give 0 fucks about jib skis when they can sell shitty pow skis to gapers by the bucket load. They sell tens of thousands of Soul (/whatever S word) 7s. The Slat probably sold a few hundred pairs, they weren't even available in Europe. Basically they're gone because freeski is irrelevant to Rossi, back someone who gives a shit.

they are not the only company moving away from it. i was looking through all the catalogs today and not many have more than just a simple park ski.

atomic also killed the infamous and are calling it a punx5 and its full cap now instead of a hybrid. basically a more budget ski at probably the same price.

i really hope this is true. Ill have to check with my rep. Maybe @pwhite can chime in to provide any hints. Havent seen any footage of him or logan on something other than the slat or blackops.

I just bought these skis from the end of season sales. I've only skied them two days but they seem amazing. Very chargey, damp and great edge contact. The subtle camber zone and the low tip rocker means you feel a lot more of the ski under you than other hybrid rocker skis I've ridden. It's also nice to find a ski that has a 20m sidecut at my size (I'm riding the 169). Only downside is that they are a tad heavy, but that usually indicates that the ski is durably built, it also means they don't get deflected easily. I noticed the edges are very thick, don't know the specs but they are visibly thicker than the edges on the faction prodigy that I'm replacing.

I hope Rossignol makes another mid fat park ski to replace it. I'm not sure how this ski has flown under the radar for so long, sad to see it go.

i'll say. cant believe i never seriously considered it, im alll about high 90s waisted do it all skis.. wish i had learned about these a while ago. might still even pick up a pair in the future

It's weird that I've never seen any hype at all around this ski, even though it's been around awhile. It's actually a very unique ski, I agree with pretty much everything in this guys review; "The trend in the “mid-fat” freeride category seems to be smaller turn radii and often early tapered tips and tails. Yeah exactly, i fuckin hate small turning radii and early taper haha

Would you think it skis similarly to the ARVti? Whenever I next buy skis it'll be something in this vein for sure
