Nick Martini

Nick Martini was absolutely ridiculous in his prime and my favourite skier to watch. Arguably one of, if not the best skier of his time when he was at the top of his game. I always wondered what could have been, if not for the injuries. How do you think Martini's legacy would have stacked up. Do you think he would have went down as one of the legends of his era? I truly believe he would have became one of the legends of the sport, approaching the same level, as say a Wallisch. Curious for opinions.

Even with the injuries I would say he goes down as one of the greats, especially as one of the pioneers in putting out web content.

He had that comfortable look like Wallisch, I would even dare to say that in the air he looked more comfortable than tom.

Yeah looking back Martini was filthy in his prime time, even in his later career his PBP segments were always nasty.

Totally agree. He had that same technical wizardry while making it look steezy as can be. Something only a couple guys are able to do. Wallisch and Martini being the top two that come to mind for me.

I think it might have been Everyday Is a Saturday. I could be totally wrong but that's what is coming to mind.

Not just Nick, the whole family is awesome. I grew up chasing Nick and Alex around Cannon back in the day and they usually try to come back at least once a year to visit their parents and cruise around for the day. As for Nick's injuries, he did his knee a couple times and there were some internal injuries at one point (ruptured spleen/heart contusion). Always was a fan of his style, G-Suit era FTW!

I haven't been following skiing,What happened to hennie? Seemed like he was putting out banger edits one after another for a while?

The other that comes to mind for me is Ahmet Dadali, between the three of them they could make even the most simple trick oooze style

He definitely would have been an X Games Real Ski street contender nowadays if it wasn't for the notorious injuries he suffered during his career. Good thing he has found other passions in life.

Martini was so good. I wonder what he would've done if he stayed fully healthy. Even the year he had full parts in Weight and Grand Bizarre he got severely injured

very down to earth guy too. I ran into him at the Bunyan room at Loon skiing with my brother and dad two years ago and we ended up taking some laps. Did some hot laps with him, but he always insisted he waited for my old man to get on the lift. My brother was insanely stoked to meet him and it was good to see how chill of a dude he was.

That's what I'm saying. If Martini's parts from 5,6,7 years ago came out today, they would still be some of the best parts of the year. When a part from 7 years ago was released today and would still be mind blowing that's when you know you have something special.

True, as I correred my own self, not enough urban nor not as challenging as some of the urban focused parts to place in x realski, but this edit is all time.

Absolutely agree that Martini will be solidified in freeski history be a legend.

We have been half ass-ing all of our comps for years. This was the first year we have done a jam format, before that it was legit 2 runs through a rail line. Literally just slope without jumps.

Yea I remember the coordinator at the top of the course ask if we wanted jam and it definitely made a fun jam. Who was in charge of the prizes though? It was a bummer to not have 2nd and 3rd get prizes.

Marketing ran the whole thing, they have no clue what they are doing. Once they started their Mittersill project they completely gave up on the parks.
