Confidence on Rails

I have done rails a couple of times but they kinda freak me out. I have been learning on a cuban with a small urban. I dont know why and this might make me sound like a puss but every time im coming up to the rail i bail. anyone no what i should do about this. do i just need to man up?

When I learned (in rear mounted non twin tips) I had trouble committing and not sliding off the far side. It may sound, and mind you be, lame, but try hopping on from taking off with one foot on either side of the rail so you land directly on it with out sliding off to the side. Also make sure you are landing with your skis fully 90 degrees and a shoulder width apart. Other than this, yes, just grow a pair, it gets better.

This season is the first time I actually hit rails. It's really frustrating because of how inconsistent I am. I'll slide it perfectly one time but the next run I'll be really sloppy. They still freak me out a little bit but I guess I need more experience. Just commit 100% and make sure your perpendicular to it.

Just takes time, you'll eat it a bunch, but really practicing and learning how to balance is the most important thing. Stay stanced and centered, urban on is a lot of committing to the rail and landing centered, or youll slip out and be sad

My man you just have to say "fuck it" and fully commit to it. After that, it just takes time. Just do it over and over until you get better. You are gonna fall a lot park skiing and it's inevitable. I suggest watching Jake Muller's tutorial on how to grind rails, it has all the info you need. However, people can give you all the tips in the world but those tips wont help you unless you are committing.

a few tips I would offer to up your confidence would be:
-de tune your edges or have a shop guy do it just to clear your mind from catching an edge
-hit the rail with it inbetween your legs
-look at the end of the rail before you pop, not the kicker
-pick a flat rail about a foot off the ground to prevent nutting
-tell someone to film you which will help prevent pussyietis/ give you the thought that if u eat it or land it, you can have a laugh

Do not split/straddle the rail, for sure. Be sure your getting the full 90 looking and the end of the rail with an aggressive stance and pedal forward helps.
