YOU'RE ALL FUCKING MORONS. If you're not skiing by yourself, then don't use the singles line. It's not faster than the regular line and it clogs the lines up.

If anything it makes skiing faster for everyone on the hill since you will be getting full chairs every time.. therefore everyone wins. Groups taking single line only costs them since they dont get to go up with their mates.

Bullshit. It makes the singles line go slower for 2 reasons. Groups taking places in the singles line adds bodies to that line, and removes spots for singles to fill in.

The singles line is for people skiing alone. Groups using it to "cut" are assholes.

If you follow the rules of the singles line and fill in where you can it does make it faster. If your waiting for enough space for your whole group it does make it slower.

I use the singles line all the time with a group, but I dont wait until there is a spot open for all of us, we will hop on any chair that isn't filled up and just wait for each other at the top.

My place got rid of the singles line. Luckily nobody even skis there anymore since they got rid of college discount night and $1 ladies night so its always a ghost town.

This i agree with, what i was getting at is if they each filled the spots and went up individually, not waiting for a gap to go as a group

No need to be such a Debby downer. People will take the singles line if they want, and filling chairs that wouldn't be occupied in the first place will make the line go faster.

at my mountain - on busy days the singles line is usually double the length of the ropes that keep everyone in line. There's usually groups of 4+ people in those lines as well that think they can make it up quicker by doing the singles line. Ive seen the groups line move faster than the singles on those days.

I ride solo a lot and its deff a frustrating thing.

Less people in the singles line makes it quicker - theres no doubt in that.

After seeing the lift lines pictures out of Tahoe this winter and the standard Vail ones from across their dynasty, I think I made a good choice with not buying a pass to anywhere.

It's all about the science: finding the fastest line for your crew to the top. You don't get to stick together in the singles line if the flow dictates it, but complaining about groups splitting themselves up in the singles line is stupid--anybody can jump in there and reform at the top.

Really, if you're that concerned about getting through the lift line so quick, join ski school and skip to the front every time.

Yeah, that's part of the risk of the singles line game. If you split up for real its legit - but that last guy can get stuck and you would have been better off sending the group lines.

That being said, 2-3 people rolling through singles in an organized lift line is 100 times faster than grouping up with 3 people and picking up a single. Hell even a group of 6-8 going through singles is faster than the main line if it's longer than 10 min. It sounds like your mountains lift line isn't managed by an employee and everyone just does what they want. If you're skiing by yourself than yeah these extra people might seem to be slowing you down, but singles lines are always long and always go quick, so I feel like you're just getting mad to get mad.

As long as everyone splits and actually rides as a single it's chill, I was in a managed lift line the other day and the lifty called a single from the line and the front person wouldn't go, as they wanted to go with their friend behind them. Someone behind them ended up having to push through. Not cool.

I dont use the singles line with friends every time we roll up to the lift, but only when the other lines are much more crowded. Where I ski, singles file into to just about every lift, because the lifty will call groups of two or three(its a quad) so the singles line is constantly moving. When the line for a group of 4 is way backed up and only 1 group of 4 gets called for every 3 or so doubles/triples, it makes perfect sense to use the singles line. Im not concerned about anything, but there is no reason to disregard a much faster or easier option.

And no, we dont clog up the line, we dont wait for an empty spot so we can all ride together, we just flow through like everyone else.

This is the only time it's an issue.

The people in the group lines that don't understand what "alternate" means erk me more.
