Moving to another state

Moved to Reno from South Dakota and knew one kid...if you are in college it is super easy to meet people and make friends...idk about not being in college though. It's not that bad at all!

I live in Maine, but am moving to Vermont in the fall. Not much difference in area, but know nobody, a friend might be coming with me though, which would be cool.

Truth ^ I went to college in a different state not knowing anyone here and it worked out great. Can't speak for not being in school, but I imagine if you move to a college town it still won't be hard to meet people.

I moved from Minneapolis to SLC 2 years after college. I knew maybe 2 people (acquaintances) and the first few months are a little tough until you are able to make meaningful friendships. Despite the initial difficulties and the small mormon culture shock it was way easier than I expected. I have no regrets and I'd say push yourself outside of your comfort zone and move to wherever you want.

I moved from Massachusetts to San Diego in October without knowing a soul in the area. I found a job and a good place to live real quick, but meeting people has been a big challenge. If you're going to school it shouldn't be hard but if your on the 9 to 5 grind I would be prepared to not have an friends for a while as I am currently learning.

Graduated college. Worked full time for a year. Quite my job and moved to VT from PA. Best decision ever.

Moved to Reno from Idaho.

Honestly the only way I met people here has been through NS really... haha if I hadn't talked to Profahoben I would be one lonely boy down here.

He basically introduced me to everybody I know down here whether it be his roommates, friends, or ski club.


My advice for you would to just go for it. It can be weird moving somewhere and not knowing anybody, but you'll meet people. Also, wherever you decide to go see if any NSers are there! That is what I would do.

Still coming back to Aspen for seven winters now. Mountain life is addicting.

If your a hard worker you can find work in any mountain town. Sure it's weird not knowing people when you first move to a new town, but you can always find like minded people.

Tip for summer 2017: Tump signed a hiring freeze for all seasonal federal civilian workers. People like wildland fire fighters and park rangers are on hold for being hired.

If the administration doesn't get it together lots of fire guys will take other summer jobs (my predication). If there was ever a season to get on a wildland fire fighting crew at the last minute for this could be the season.
