One good thing is money goes into the pocket of skiers. Unfortunately for sponsors winning the X games isn't going to translate into selling product.

Yeah, xgames sucks, but it honestly does good things for the freeskiing community! freestyle skiing has gained a ton of popularity because of events like xgames.

Not tryna beef, but Andy's opinion is immensely relevant. Andy actually supports some sick up and coming skiers, with, as mentioned, TAFT and featuring people on TC. He's sponsored by companies that actually give a shit about his skiing, and skiing in general for that matter. He builds the sport by making it fun and accessible, and for what? Next to nothing. So maybe think about that when you criticize people who are doing positive things in an industry full of bullshit.

Andy's not offended at all, he's passionate about skiing and its future, so much so that's he's pretty much fully dedicated to trying to make it better all on his own. His job is to raise a ton of money from sponsors to support himself and get kids stoked on skiing. Not only is that the coolest job you could have, its selfless, and its also been working out pretty well for him, he owns a house. Ignorance huh

My passion for what I think skiing should be comes off course. It comes from my idealistic mindset and the people I meet while on the road.

I'm a reasonable guy and we just have different views on things.

Andy Parry is not only one of the smarter dudes in skiing, he's also someone who actually does something about his statements.

The idea that Andy is just delivering pizzas is categorically false. He's not only a pro skier, he works a respectable job in the summer with a degree, films travelling circus and works his bag off to run one of the sickest event tours the sport of skiing has ever seen.

Andy bitches about the X-games and says we need something different? That motherfucker gets in a van, stoked out the kids and adds the most core competition to his tour that the world has ever seen. (small claim that we're a part of it).

Seriously though man - I like you, and I've hung out with you - but you better back the fuck up on your comments about Andy. He may be bitching, but he's actually doing something about it. That, I respect the hell out of - and though we've only done a small part of this whole thing, we have put a huge amount of time and resources behind it.

Next thing you know, this competition tour is going to be a part of an overall completely different equation than the entire sport has right now. I'm stoked on the X-games, but there's a lot of tired shit happening in competitions right now, an you better believe it - we're fucking going to do everything in our power to create a viable alternative to what is present today.

I want to provide a disclaimer to my statement so you know where I am coming from here in the present and in the future. Like Andy, I am also an adult, have a degree, and have a career of my own. I am no longer a 16 year old kid that worships these dudes like they are God, but am an adult who understands that they are just people like me, but chose a different path in life. No hate on the path they have chosen, it is a super sick one. For me, I don't even ski anymore; I blew both of my knees a few seasons ago and gave up the sport for real life priorities. I still love freeskiing and this website, but I can't idolize these "pro skiers" as I have grown older and have grown more accustomed to the real world. They are just people like me, after all. LJ can slide a really gnarly rail on skis... that is really cool don't get me wrong, in the grand scheme of things does that mean he is doing his part to progress society or to help others more than I am? That is up for debate, as I don't know LJ and he doesn't know me. But I'm not going to give him the benefit of the doubt just because he can slide a rail on skis and has some sponsors. Same with Andy. From what I have seen, the dude lives out of a van and slides rails with a bunch of kids for a living. I guess he works in the summer too. Nothing wrong with that, but I can't respect it like I used to.

That is why this has become more of a joke for me to have some fun with over the last couple of years. It is just skiing, after all, and I can see it for what it is. So when these dudes complain and complain and complain about aspects of a sport that have provided them their entire lifestyle, I just have to laugh. At the end of the day, it is just skiing and they are extremely privileged to be involved in their current capacity. I wish that it was still the one of the most important things in my life.... but man, life is crazy.

I just checked out what Tell A Friend Tour is. I didn't know what is was.
I hope one day you can bring it to Mt Bachelor. I'd love to watch the riders and maybe see some of my home boys and girls get a few dollars and most importantly have a fun time.

I DVR the entire thing and just skip through to the skiing and riding. I can't stand the in studio interviews and dumb filler antics they do thinking we watch x games for the presenters and for the "x games content."

As far as the actual constests, they're fun to watch if you turn the volume down or drink everytime someone says amplitude.
