OhJayHello,
Long time snowboarder here (easy on me, please), currently in my first season of skiing. I have to say it's going well so far and I'm serious about purchasing a pair of skis by the end of the season.
I'm leaning towards Kartel 108s, but am wondering if it'll be too much of a change for me coming from my rental skis; 163 with a 71 waist and fully cambered (think I can slide a finger or two under the ski at the apex of the camber). Not a whole lot of tail either from where the bindings are mounted.
I'm not sure what to expect with sizing, since I'll be jumping almost 3cm in width and about 30 in length, but I'm aware of the rocker at both ends. I'm wondering 186 or 191?
Me: 5'11" 190lbs., I can ride groomers just fine, still trying to learn riding off piste. I'm sure I need to get better, but I'm guessing the right tool for the job would also help. Trying to ride through some fresh and thick PNW pow was a struggle, not that I'm doubting you guys could probably manage on skis as short and narrow as mine.
Thanks for dealing with the noob post. The "you're a delirious noob, start with something else" comments are welcome as well.

SessionNo longer than 186. I'm only 2 inches shorter than you, and I'm on the 181. My K116's are 186 however.
Where are you skiing?
lawshey man, rad your turning into skiing, starting in on something that expensisive may not be the best idea considering you are just starting and say you end up hating it. ide go with something not only a little skinnier for you but cheaper as well
Shoey-Skii have a video of the graphics for next years magnus if anyone wants just pm me

SpliffsOnLiftsOn a related topic, anyone know when their gear from the previous season goes on sale? Guessing sometime between April and summer but didn't know if anyone had bought stuff on sale from them before. Definitely trying to get my hands on a pair of Kartel 98's, those bad boys look so fucking fun.
Gman094what size are you looking at? Given the limited inventory of that ski, I don't foresee it being put on sale.
SpliffsOnLiftsWould be lookin to get a 186. Didn't realize how limited they were on inventory.
ItsyaboiHUCKJust wandering are the kartel 98 flexy?
