Replying to Attention All Ski Techs!
Whats up guys, so i have been debating this for a while and I don't know what to do. I have worked in my local rental shop for three years and have moved down to the tuning shop this year. I worked a bit down there last year setting up demos and doing waxes but this year I am able to run the edger/beveler, do ptex work, and perform basegrinds/belt sands. I have also mounted a few pairs of skis. I am a senior in high school and plan to go out west for college, and hopefully get a part time job at a ski shop. The problem is I have no real "certificates" to my name. I have experience and a lot of hours under my belt but have not taken any classes/ training courses. I have to do a mandatory rossignol ski test every year because that is what our local hill uses for rentals. Would you guys recommend getting some sort of certification(s) or will a shop be willing to hire me with almost all experience coming from hands on learning / teachings of a more experienced tech.
