Breaking Poles

It seems like every other time I go out skiing I find a new way to destroy a pair of poles, any suggestions on cheap poles or how to not fuck them up all the time.

just buy rental poles. theyre light and work fine and you dont even have an issue worth worrying about if you break em

That's not a bad plan. haha back when I was in college we used to steal rental poles from the local mountain all the time.
Now I got the damn leki poles that clip in to my gloves, I love them, but at $100+ I don't enjoy breaking them. Luckily they offer a 1 year warranty program.

yeah dude i feel ya on liking certain pole especially ones with clips. but i just dont like having to worry about my poles at all...skiing is expensive enough. i broke a pole in half whacking branches to clear a take off for a little drop last time i was skiing. cant do that shit with expensive poles!

I turned my latest pair into noodles this past weekend at Jay hahah crashing into the trees at mach 10 is terrifying

sure is! remember not to use your straps in the trees. better to have to hike uphill for a dropped pole than lose an arm IMO ha

I was mobing groomers at 50+ and failed to stop where the trails split.. Unexpected backie to rag doll down the hill into the woods.

I got a pair of hiking adjustable poles that are much cheaper than buying regular skiing adjustable poles and I haven't had any problems even after landing on them a few times.

1. Go to your local thrift shop.
2. Offer to buy all the poles in all lengths for 15 bucks or whatever number you make up on the spot.
3. Get hold of a pipe-cutter either buy one for 10 bucks or steal one from your dad.
4. Remove all grips with the power of heat, which can come in many forms, heat gun, dryer, steam from a kettle, etc...
5. Cut poles to desired length.
6. Put on the old grips with a dab of glue or go to 6a
6a. Get cheap bmx/mtb handlebar grips
6b. Layer some cloth tape on the pole until the grip fits over snuggly with a dab of glue
6c. If you want a strap with bike grips: insert a star nut in the shaft, it's just like sounding only more permanent.
7. Done, you now have an infinite number of poles for almost no money.
