Low-risk ski tours in CO

eh there yous guys!

Just getting into backcountry touring here in Colorado. Wondering where some good low-risk avy spots near the i70, or front rangeish area are located.

any info. is helpful!

Can't speak much to the stuff off I-70, but I'm up in Fort Collins and Montgomery Bowl up at Cameron Pass is a good beginner area where you can skin up and ski down out of avalanche terrain. Hidden Valley at RMNP is another good option.

^ but take this with a large grain of salt. Any area poses its own set of dangers/risks. Try and find other people with more experience, especially in the area in which you're skiing.

check out caltopo.com
it's got a bunch of filters you can lay on top of the map, like elevation and (more importantly) slope angle. find some stuff that's, near you, easily accessible, and below 35 degrees

Moffit Tunnel East Portal.

Go up cold creek road from Golden or Boulder. Quick trip from town, and it's a relatively well traveled zone, so if you lack partners, you can usually find them.

Loveland, Berthoud, and Cottonwood pass. These areas have lots of lower risk lines, and because they are so popular, you can really research the terrain. Good place to start.
