WHATS WRONG WITH MY BACKFLIPS???

I was doing a few backflips the other day and I could help but notice a pain in my core. I was wondering if anybody else had this pain when doing backflips or I just have to develop stronger muscles?

I'm gonna guess one of two things happened here. Either...
A. you're just sore, backflips require core work to pull yourself around the entire rotation.
B. you tried to huck yourself back too hard and the sudden force ended up hyperextending your spine which leads to a muscle pull/strain in your abdominals. That usually happens in gymnastics injuries, which I'd say includes backflips.
Either scenario requires you to strengthen your abs and keep your core tighter on the send. For the second scenario, I'd also suggest finding a way to make the jump and your pop work to your advantage. You might want to look into a lot of lower ab exercises, leg lifts, v-ups, mountain climbers stuff like that. That way you can train start to train your body to "pull" your legs around and it'll just be easier with a stronger base.
