Replying to HELP! Change my setup (currently on on3p wrenegade)
Hello all,
I'm in a bit of a tight spot.
So I'm moving down to Chile soon and will be skiing around the San Carlos de Bariloche area in Argentina this July. I plan on touring a bunch near Refugio Frey to save $$$ and avoid buying lift tickets..
I am worried that my setup will be too heavy and will be much of a powder ski rather than a decent and versatile touring ski.
I must finalize my setup prior to leaving in a few weeks because it will be a bit difficult to purchase gear and mount bindings while im down there.
Currently my setup is
176 ON3P Wrenegade 112 w Marker Baron 13 EPF
i am 5'8 140lbs and very new to touring.
I am concerned that this setup will be very heavy. Additionally, the Wrenegade is a directional ski with some gnarly tip rocker. I've ridden them several times in bounds and the turn radius is beautiful and floats great.
weight is about 4.78 kg/ski+binding (2.18kg/ski + 2.6kg/baron) or about 10 lbs per ski..
I want a ski that is more playful than the Wrenegade and can handle both some fresh snow, but can also deal with days when there is little fresh snow. I am thinking of something around 100-104 underfoot, twin tip? (unsure if i want directional or not), a bit more flex and camber.
Any recommendations on other skis? Do I take apart this setup and look for something new? Any and all help is very much appreciated!!!
