I'm considering buying j whipits for strictly park. I've heard some great and horrible things about them and I am wondering what other people's opinions are.
If you're a lighter person they'd probably be a super nice set of skis. I am 5'9 165 and couldn't do the 178 whip its. Id go for a butter and since they're soft as hell they'd flex out before anything happened. That being said, they did handle groomers without any chatter at mach 5 speeds. On jumps, they washed out a bit for me but i've seen people throw some serious shit down on these sticks. Where they really shine is on rails. I didn't have the skis long enough to really give you an in depth review on them but sliding rails was the easiest thing in the history of ever with these skis. Right now I got a sick deal on some Black Crows Venors for just under 200 bucks and those are my go to park sticks.
Not necessarily all hype as plenty of people enjoy their skis. Topsheet does just absolutely shatter though. The ski is for a specific type of person, so I can't really tell you if you'd like em or not. But they aren't like baaaad skis. But they are also not really like a real boutique ski company in my opinion. Good skis, pretty good quality minus topsheet, it's possible you'd like the skis, more likely if you are a smaller person.
considering it is jay levinthals company they are probably quite similar to line skis. Dope graphics, shitty top sheet durability, decent bases, and very flexy (depending on the model)
Ive never understood why people give two fucks about topsheet stuff, but I have some Allplays for my "pow" skis and they are pretty fucking solid. bases arent as durable as any other ski Ive owned, but thats not the worst thing in the world since they are decently fast and pretty thick. I do not recommend the Whipits since they are stupid soft to the point that I took 1 run on them and was scared to use them on jumps. Allplays are dope skis though.
they're hand made so pretty expensive but idt their worth the price, personally i havent tried them but people i see on the mountain who have them say they're worth it so go for it if you want.
They seem pretty nice but the top sheets suck, I see tons of complaints all the time about people too sheets chipping, and any pairs I've seen on the mountain have rough looking too sheets from being ridden, honestly if you're looking to get something that will last, and have the cash go On3p check out the magnus, I'm not sure if you are solely looking for a traditional camber ski like the whip it but the magnus are a rockered camber park ski that slay everywhere
