A tip for people making ski edits

please just get to the fucking skiing

nobody wants to see these long boring intro scenes that just drag on forever before any actually skiing starts

like if you are watching a porno, you are always going to skip to like 5 or 10 mins in bcuz you dont want to see all that acting bullshit that going on before all the fucking

so please ppl out there making ski edits, cool it with the intros, and just get to the damn skiing

these fucking long ass intros that drag on forever are such a huge turn off and when i see that shit it pisses me off to the point where i dont even care anymore about the edit, much less want to watch it anymore

food for thought ppl, time is money, and ppl dont have the time or attention span to be watching these long ass intros

agreed. I love the long intros, as well as overall b roll and fill in scenes of skier talking and just doing life n shit.

What specific video made you post this?

Done incorrectly I totally agree story is shit. Done correctly however, and it can be incredible.

80/20 ratio though of how many times its done badly vs. done well.

In on mobile rn and I'm having trouble finding the edit, but it was like the number one edit in here a few days ago of a guy at park city, red hoody, no poles. I'll post it later when I find it


That said, it's more or less a general trend that I've been seeing for a while and these long drawn out intros are so annoying that I don't even want to watch the edit after having to watch these long stupid intros

If fillers are filmed correctly it can greatly add to the vibe and flow of the edit. Straight skiing start to finish can be great for just getting to the bangers but lacks certain elements imo.


But I gotta say, I really hate endless shots of drinking and smoking. Blowing or spitting that shit at the camera. In fact I hate seeing it all together. I don't need you trying to prove how cool you are. it's just fucking stupid in my mind

interesting b roll shots can add a lot to an edit/movie in my opinion. a great example is the bunch's new india kash movie, with all the cool shots of the scenery and locals. i never really feel bored while watching their stuff.

what about in The Massive where there's that whole bit with Tanner talking to the diner waitress at the base of hood? I always thought it was terrible but amazing

he's just sitting in a diner drinking coffee reading a fake newspaper (filled with articles about him and his crew slaying)

waitress (older woman) comes up to fill his coffee and they start chatting.

the conversation progresses to something like this...

Tanner: oh you're a skier?

Waitress: damn right I've been skiing for 50 years, I don't give her like I used to but I still throw down


it's the combination of corny story and terrible acting that really made it a memorable scene. the film was filled with these terrible scenes and was jam packed with amazing skiers like Sammy, the Provos, the Petits and Frank Raymond.

Tanner throws a cork 9 off a tiny urban wall ride and it ends with everyone hitting possibly the biggest hip I've every seen.

Damn I need to buy a new dvd player

yeah i do remember seeing the urban c9 and the huge hip closing segment

the scene you described sounds kind of similar to the scene in education of style where henrik talks to paddy flanagan. sorta weird and the acting isnt very good haha but the message comes from someone in the right mindset!

i def wanna watch the massive tho, pretty weird i havent ever seen it

I can see where he is coming from given that most of the time when I watch ski edits, i am sitting in history class and have no audio, so i have to skip around to find the skiing and it can be quite obnoxious, really cool looking cinematics that require no audio are a different story entirely; however, I also believe that people can make whatever they want, and if its cool to them, theres a good chance its good to someone else, so you can't generalize and say nobody likes these long intros because some people do.

Okay what? Did doublecup actually make a sorta valid point? I actually kinda agree with this. Intros can definitely be to drawn out. sometimes it's artsy, sometimes its filler. I feel like your intro should never be more than 15% of the length of your edit.

That being said intros can also be abosultley critical in an edit or film. Gypsy Feelings Cruise Control ( if you haven't seen it watch it) is a good example of this. I accidentally clicked on it while looking through the slvsh archives for something to watch. I almost clicked out but the intro was pretty interesting and caught my eye. I continued to watch and the intro was vibey as fuck, along with the rest of the movie. It's now one of my favorites that I watch over and over again.

Intros are okay if done with moderation and class. We dont need 3 minute timelapses of you driving in an 5 minute edit.

I'm sure all the filmers and editors on this site are going to dramatically change their editing style cuz some kid on ns made a thread telling them to do so. You don't pay for the edits so why not just enjoy the ones you like and stop spreading negativity? As b.gillis said, all the skiing is more or less the same (everyone slays nowadays) so why not throw some other stuff in there. An edit isn't just showcasing a skiers skills. Sometimes the journey, the people, or the scenery is what resonates most in a day so why not convey that vibe? Open your mind brotha. The world is beautiful.

A edit is good with some intro to smooth into the edit. But they main point is who skips some of the intro to porn. You have to watch atleast the first minute to see what's happening. Idk if it's me but to me you have to watch some of intro cause that's what helps to build the story to porno.

I myself rarely enjoy those parts of the edits I watch for the sick skiing however for me skiing is about peace and being in the mountain where I’m happy and the rest of the world disappears , your bringing a negativity to skiing so you should stfu and ff like u do when ur jerking ur teenie wheenie to step sis videos you sick prick

any edit ft some filthy memes really makes me slobber. I also do love a beautiful film baked by sherpas Cinema ( shoutout Leo) but simple edits filmed on VHS will do for me. I usually watch edits to check out mountains im about to ride
