Cutting down atomic poles

I have those fancy red an black park poles in 40" and I tried using a blowdryer to hear the grips to take them off to cut the down an inch or two. They won't come off. Any solutions?

A hairdryer definitely won't get hot enough to loosen the glue that bonds the grip to the pole. You need to bring a pot of water to a boil, remove it from the heat, and then put he poles in the hot water for a few minutes. Then the grip should easily slide off.

Make sure you take out any screws on the grip. Often they will hold the grip on. Generally, I will put the pole in a vice loose enough to slide but when it gets to the grip, it will stop, and then I will slide the pole through as fast as possible. Not sure how this will work if your poles use glue, but I've been doing this to Scott poles for years.
