Wooden rails

I recently started to actually progress in skiing and i was just wondering if you guys have any tips for hitting rails. Like which kinds of wood rails to hit first (down or flat)? Any tips on hitting them would be helpful.

If you've never hit rails then you should probably look for a rail that's lower to the ground with a smaller kicker so you don't have to pop to hard to get over it. Once your on make sure your shoulders are parallel to the rail too and keep your weight centered so you don't slide off.

imo, wood rails aren't good to learn on. At least at my hill, they start to get chips in them and become pretty sketchy. Your best bet is to find a box or a skate rail that is somewhat close to the ground and flat.

UPDATE: i hit normal rails lmao, i need tips to start hitting wooden rails i can already hit metal rails.

Only tip I have is do not make the mistake of leaning forward on a wood rail unless you want to eat complete shit lol

Same thing as normal rails then, only difference is they can get a little more icey, and slippery.

Just expect it to be very not slippery. It pretty much feels like your edges are shaving off the wood as you go.

wouldn't detuning your edges make it easier to hit wood rails? i've always wondered that but my hill doesn't have a wooden rail rn
