Graduating College Early?

Has anyone here done it? Pros? Cons?

Most of what I've read is from people who plan from day 1 of college to graduate early, and that sounds miserable. However, it just kind of worked out that I could graduate a semester early.

Basically my two options are:

1. graduate early - 18 credits this spring. 19 next fall. save money. ski and travel for a few months. start job early.

2. graduate on time - 15 credits this spring. 14 next fall. 8 next spring. start job on time.

I realize there's probably stuff I haven't thought about though. If you have done it, how did it work out for you? Would you do it again? Anything I should know?

I dont see why you wouldnt. 18 or 19 credits is easily doable

I'm glad I did.
It was really easy for me with regards to credits, and that weren't really any classes left that I wanted to take.
I stayed on my lease, worked for NS, went on a lot of trips, and got a start on the job search.

Do it if you can. Life happens. Once you have your degree you have it. I've seen so many people get close and then have to put off their degree just to finish their last term.

Graduate and get it over with. You're going to save money, have a degree, and can do whatever you please. Sounds like a no brainer.

Yeah I guess that's what it comes down to.

Im more worried about housing situations, workload, missing internship opportunities and missing out on other social things. I don't know. Maybe it doesn't really make a difference. Just kind of curious to hear how it worked out for other people!

A guy I went to highschool with did running start for two years in highschool and got his diploma and his associates at the same time, and then graduated from Western at like 20 years old. Most people aren't that crazy, but you gotta admire someone that good at handling their shit.

That awkward moment when skiers from cleveland go to WNY resorts for vacations... be grateful. I save up money so i can schedule trips to pknpk and holiday valley.

Ming good for you that you are good at school I'm impressed considering how much you complain about shit on here. 2nd semester of the last year of college is the most fun time of most people's lives but if you don't enjoy college that much then graduate early and go skiing. Simple as that.

It has nothing to do with being good at school, you can graduate early with a shit gpa haha.

But true. I would definitely miss out on an easy as fuck semester with a bunch of partying and shenanigans. I could also do a lot of that while skiing though haha. I'm def leaning towards graduating early but kind of want someone to attempt to talk me out of it.

You most likely will sign a year lease in the fall... so with that you could take winter off to ski and walk in the spring. Then move out and only pay for rent in two places for just a few months.

/thread , moving out of WNY was the best decision I've ever made, Mingg don't be a dumbfuck because you want to party, think of the money you'll save by graduating early! And who says you can't party when your not in college...

I did from my first college and both saved money from not having to go another semester and got more days in skiing than any other year so far.

To be honest, housing is gonna be the most difficult part of the whole thing. I'll probably end up commuting from my parents house. It would not be ideal but gas for the entire semester would be cheaper than a single month's rent, which just means more money for stuff in the winter. It's a 40 minute drive though depending on traffic which sucks. Can't justify a full year lease for only 3 months though haha.

Who knows, maybe I'll live out of my car for a week or two at a time to maximize my financial savings. Turn my car into a large bed, sneak into the dorm laundry rooms and showers, find out which parking lot has the strongest wifi. Bam. So set. Or I could give my friends 100 or 200 dollars per month to sleep on their couch?

I did the exact opposite. I could have ended up leaving a semester early, but I ended up staying an extra semester as I loved the college life. I ended up redshirting my sophomore year due to injury so I had that extra year of scholarship money. Took some bullshit classes and partied and I'm glad I did. The real world and adulting sucks and you'll never have the time like you did in college to go around and not give a fuck and party. I was also in Albany so I had alot more to do and built up a pretty rad network. If you like the life style I'd suggest taking that time and having easy classes and enjoying the lifestyle before adulting hits.

I love my life now, married, easy job, but college was where I had the most fun of my life and I'd relive those days in a heartbeat
