i hope i didnt upset anyone by making another no poles post. i broke my wrist, now i cant ski with poles. i ski with no poles. i have never skied better in the park. end of story.

omg i loovve skiing w/o poles, me and my friends do it all the time just for kicks... but i broke my collar bone the other day, so next weekend im going to try to go out ans ski again prob w/o poles

Yeah no poles is the way to go for rail sessions. I learned so much the day I decided to drop the poles.

I dont think Boeskis to far off. With all the Soft Boots and what not. And I know some kids use telemark boots cause there lighter and softer.

c.) ice-is-scary --- poles are essential for skiing BC. I would love to see someone on the steeps with no poles, or someone freeride a 1000 ft vertical w/o poles.

I dunno...for me poles are essential where ever I am, including the park.

i had a broken wrist and ski'd w/ poles no problem...just bring your grip in with you when they make the cast, and form it around your grip..works greatt..

poles are essential for gaining speed. i wouldnt do urban rails without them, so i wouldnt do park rails without them either.

Do you think i give a shit if you think I look 'gay' without poles?? HELL NO.
Skiing without poles is dope and helps me work on my balance. fuck packing these god damn metal rods around with me when i dont really need them.

Dont listen to all these fuckers that say 'skiing without poles is gay....blah blah.' You can seriously grab so much better and skiing switch you never have to worry about accidentally jamming your poles into the snow and jabbing yourself. Try it for yourself and see.

i used to ski with no poles, but you have so much more balnce on them, and you can spin more off a jump if you pole plant on the lip

the purpose of having poles is to aid with balance and rhythm. regardless of looks or style, if you can ski without poles, esp. in the park, your balance is probably pretty good. if you cant ski without poles, and especially if you cant skate out of the flats without poles, your balance and technique might need some work. everyone should get their technique down so that they are capable of skiing without poles. the most important thing about skiing is not how you look, so who cares if someone rocks the poles or not.
