My friends skis were run over by a bus

So on the way down from the hill, my friends brand new j skis, that were attached directly next to mine on the ski rack on the side of the bus. Got run over...

I don't really know how it happened but his skis just fell off of the rack, (probably weren't secured correctly by the bus driver) and then run over. The bus ran over them directly over the bindings of one of the skis and I'm pretty sure the skis fucked now.

So what do you guys think of this? The bus driver told us the ski hill would "probably" reimburse him, so who knows.

What do you guys think of this? Has anything similar happened to you or any of your friends?

Sorry, didn't mean to word it like that... Meant "pretty sure" in the sense that I wanted to enforce the fact that I was sure that they are fucked.

They are definitely broken.

As long as the bus driver was the one who loaded the skis then it should be 100% his fault/the resorts responsibility to replace them on the other hand if you friend loaded them and they fell off and it wasn't due to s faulty rack of horrible driving or something then it's your friends fault not the resorts

This is true and is also something me and my friend talked about. The bus driver was the one who loaded the skis. So hopefully the resort acknowledges this and replaces them...

You should definitely contact the bus driver and get it in writing or a video of him saying he loaded the skis cause otherwise he could lie

My friend wrote up a statement about it on paper and it has the drivers signatures on it. The bus driver also said he admits it was his fault. The drivers a nice guy though so I don't see why he'd lie about it. Especially since he works for the ski hill and it was a ski hill bus, so it would be the ski hills money that would pay back my friend.

To add onto this though, I hope to god that that piece of paper is legit enough proof and my friend doesn't get completely fucked by a bus driver who "seemed like a nice guy" like I said above.

I'll update you guys tomorrow whether or not he'll get money from the hill for new sticks...

i recommend talking to the bus drive/company and seeing if they will pay for some skis
then the resort if those doesn't work. j lev seems like a supper nice guy could always try asking if he can help out and hook it up with a ski.
be chill about it accidents happen dont act mad.

the thing that sucks is that the bus driver probably has some sort of contract where this doesn't matter. he may not have to pay for it but it is worth a shot. and the mountain might pull something where it was their fault. idk worth a shot to try everything tho

Just got a text from my friend about what went down.

So as I was skiing some hot laps today. My friend (the one who got his skis run over) worked it out with the ski hills staff.

The bus driver was honest, the paper was enough and the ski hill payed for brand new J skis and also a pair of look pivots. Which is sick cause he originally had marker bindings on them.

Awesome that it worked out and also thanks for your guys advice.

didnt read the thread but if it's any normal ish operation, the hill will pay for the skis, the driver will get a slap on the wrist (def shouldnt have to pay for them himself haha), and everyone will continue on with their lives

so i guess the moral of the story is if you want upgraded bindings on top of new skis, become friends with the shuttle driver.... you know what happens from there

Wouldn't count on it lol. Think the real moral is never load skis onto a bus yourself, since you would be liable if they were to get run over.
