D.B.Ugh.
jellomellowjust scrap it off with a metal or plastic scraper
freeskibum82you can do a lot of things. easiest is to just spent the $20 on a tune at your local shop. they will use a wet belt to level the base, sharpen edges and then wax your skis.

eheathI dunno where you live but I've never seen a tune for less than $40 I feel like...
freeskibum82local shop by me does a basic tune where they belt the bases flat, sharpen the edges and hot machine wax for $25 and then if you want ptex work and stoned its another $10.
no wax and you're looking at $20.
FKS_HEEL_PIECEFlat bottom iron: $20
Swix file: $15
Stick of ptex: $1
Bic lighter: $1
for a little bit more, you can have all you need to tune your skis for a long time...
marrowsexcept OP was asking about base grinding, and none of those things do that.
You're still on point tho
CaseyTuning your base edge and flattening is probably the one thing you can't easily do at home. It's doable, but it's not as easy as side edge sharpening. A plastic scraper will not do shit to flatten your base or set the proper base bevel. I am thinking about investing in a base edge guide that sets a file in it, it's a tool made by swix.
FKS_HEEL_PIECEOP was asking about flattening bases after using ptex... you dont need to get a base grind for that. I use a Metal scraper and a file, so another $7 for a scraper.
kobroCan you use a belt sander to flatten bases after putting ptex on or will it fuck your bases up
