Need some opinions!

Hey all!

I've been looking to add another pair of skis in the mix for this season and ended up with a good amount of gift cards after Christmas to help out with the cost. Because I am looking primarily at one retailer I don't have a ton of options on brands, either way, I'm excited.

I primarily ski out west in Colorado, California or Utah. I really want something that I can take almost anywhere on the mountain be it groomers, trees, bowls or occasionally park(I spend the least amount of time in the park but would like to change that this year). I'm 6'3'' about 180 and ride on 188 directional skis with a 98mm waist for my everyday ski. I ski pretty aggressively and want something twin-tip that's a bit wider.

The four pairs I've somewhat narrowed it down to :

Armada JJ 2.0 I can't decide between the 185/195 though leaning towards the 195s.

Icelantic Nomad 105/115 in 191 length. (Can't decide on which width I want to go with yet)

Line Sir Francis Bacons in 190 length.

I'm sure I'll enjoy any pair I end up with, just want to get some opinions before I pulled the trigger today or tomorrow! Thanks for the help!

I've only skied the JJ 2.0's out of the options you listed and they were great. They have good float in soft snow, they turn nicely, and overall they're just a very fun and playful ski. However they're not particularly stiff so I would choose something that's a bit stiffer and more stable if you plan on skiing extremely fast or are charging gnarly lines often.

At your height whether you go for the 185 or 195 is just down to what you want out of the ski. If you want more stability, float in powder, and ski fast often then go for the 195. If you want to be more nimble and want to be able to make tighter turns in dense trees then go for the 185. Also if you like spinning fast and doing large rotations then the 185 may be more manageable due to slightly lower swing weight.

I would not ski them in the park except for maybe the odd jump line. They have 1.7mm edges which is too thin for rails and boxes and you'll just end up cracking them and screwing up the base. Rather just buy a cheap second hand pair of park skis to ride in the park.

I haven't skied any of the skis but I do have a pair of Icelantic Da'Nollies. I am really happy with them. They are durable (topsheet chips easy though, but I haven't had a delam) The Nomads are basically the new version so I'd say go with them. They have a 2.2mm edge so they would be better on rails and boxes. As for width, if you are going to be skiing park, I'd go with the 105mm. Hope this helps

The Icelandics are going to have the highest build quality out of those. Never rode them though, and I don't know much about them

I wouldn't get the JJ...they are awesome for soft trees, but are lacking in everywhere else. Poor jib ski, poor stability, poor crud performance, too tight of turn radius.

Never skied on the bacons...heard a lot of people that like them, but I wouldn't choose them if you do much other than jibbing, they are really soft

Just hand flexing them, the new bacons seem relatively stiff. not that OP should buy them though. Get Icelantics.
