I am looking to grab a big pow ski that will have some marker dukes mounted on em. It will be 70-80% used in bounds at Squaw, then 30% side country/back country missions. How negatively does the width affect the skinning up portion on a ski like this, and is it gonna be too heavy. Thanks for any advice.
The 4.0's are quite lightweight for their size. Something close to 1800grams. The dukes, on the other hand, will kill that setup for touring. I'm sure most people don't mind the 10 extra pounds they add but it is noticeable.
4.0 is a beefy ski for squaw most of the time. Good for the first hour but it's large for chop. If you have a quiver then it can do great. If not I would look more into the 3.0
