MinggI just saw an Aflac commercial and I'm pretty sure the skier is wearing the new descendant 6 in it. Giggled a little bit not gonna lie.
casualSo I'm in my first pair of full tilts. They are 2 weeks old. I'm a full time ski patroller, in boots 50+ hours a week. I have to say i am a little disappointed.
I'm shocked how quickly they've packed out. Within 2 weeks they've gone from so snug my feet go numb, to now I'm swimming. I also really don't like how the cables seem much to long. How can I tighten the boots further? Seems like I can't move the grooved metal piece on which the buckle slides to adjust the tightness. Do they make smaller cables? Anyone have ideas for me?
Also, I've been in a 120 ish flex boot for a decade, (dalbello 3 piece designs similar to full tilt),and I purchased the first chair 8s. In retrospect, I wish I had purchased the 10s instead, as I feel like the 8 flex just is still pretty soft.
The boot is comfortable, I like the intuition liner, I like the styling, I love the weight for skinning and hiking for work projects while patrolling, but I honestly am just sort of bummed how quick they have packed out and how soft they fee for what's marketed as a stiff boot. Also, the replaceable heel and toe pieces are just not very durable at all. I hike tundra and rock for avalanche control work constantly, and in a short couple weeks, the boots have taken a beating.
I'm going to order some 10 flex replacement tongues, new heel and toe pieces, and I hope someone has advice for the cable situation. I love cranking my boots tight and I seemingly can't get these boots tight enough.
Malcyk, got any advice or tips my man? I don't mean to seem negative, I think it's a nice product, but there's a couple issues I'd like to address.
Also, @ Josh Malcyk I'm still skiing the mr pollards opus you sold me in like 2011... the same pair I'm prettt sure you were on when you clocked a photo in powder I think while in Japan. So, thanks for that brother!
taco_SlaYerIve got help for your cable situation. First meausure youre cables. They should be between 225mm and 290, depending on the size of youre boots. Then go to the full tilt website, go to parts, and choose one or two sizes smaller. Keep in mind that the top cable and middle cable are different, and dont forget to order one of each. Hope this helps.

casualThanks a lot for the response, I really appreciate it. Do you know if I can just find out what length cables come stock in a 27.5 boot? I'll definitely order shorter cables.
Also, I was talking to Seth Morrison who has sworn by fulltilts for fucking ever and he recommended ordering new tongues a size bigger than the stock one because he likes how they fit better. Anyone have experience there?
casualDid not buy at a shop, ordered from evo. I'm a full time employee at a ski area so I have access to the shop. Are you saying they can measure my cables?

taco_SlaYeralso, since first chair boots are the soul shell, they are perfectly compatible with replacment cables. I personally wear full tilts in a size smaller than my old boots, after testing out a freinds boot. Like you, i like to have very tight boots, and that works for me.
250rif you buy full tilts be prepared to spend an equal amount on replacement buckles as you did on the boots haha
honestly they are great boots, just some things could definitely be improved upon.

casualThank you for your help, I really appreciate it dude. I work full time in ski boots, I need them to work for me so your info is clutch.
taco_SlaYerNo problem, my dad was ski patrol back in the day, and i plan on joining
casualIt's a pretty incredible job, best decision I ever made. Where do you live/where do you want to patrol?

Klaushow easy they are to get in gives me a boner
voy10Why are they the best boots in park and what makes them so good?
FullTiltBootsTHANKS FOR ASKING.
1. flex - more natural flex than overlap (4 buckle) boots which help take away shin bang
2. weight - they're lighter than other boots
3. warmth & custom liner - Intuition liners mold to your feet, are warm and light as shit!
What you said about flex is incorrect. Yes, you don't get as much shin bang, but the invention of the power strap forced that. The one and only reason full tilts (raichle flexon comp) are the best boot for ANY type of skiing is because, unlike almost all boots ok the market, the flex is controlled from the front, not the back, making it much more responsive. They should be marketed towards racers most of all.
bonus features:
1. easy to get on if you leave in your car over night and they're frozen because the tongue opens wide
2. neutral stance & angle adjustments
3. customization of flex by swapping tongues out and not grinding and permanently altering
4. replacement of components if they break (in freestyle, things break, we know)
5. Graphics are pretty cool and don't look like a European race boot.
6. Accepted product by world's top pros in all disciplines (freestyle, freeride, race, ect)
