WHAT SHOULD MU DINS BE???

I am around 5'5 to 5'6 and weight 125-130. I love to hit rails and do 450s and 270s out. I am a aggressive skier when it comes to park and is always hitting rails and trying new things. When I land switch out from a rail my skis always pops off. What should my dins be front and back?

I am using the 4frnt attack 13s. I dont know my boot sole exactly but I think it is around a 26.

If you are an expert with a boot size 26. your din should be around 6.5. If you are having prerelease issues with that binding, I would first check the toe height and forward pressure. If you are still pre-releasing, you might want to slowly bump up the din on the toe or heel (whatever one you are releasing from), but doing that increases the risk of breaking your leg or tearing your knee apart in a fall.

If you're asking strangers on the internet how high your dins should be, you probably arnt qualified to even adjust your own skis. take them into the shop, and speak with a certified ski technician.

It's ski bindings. not rocket science.

130 pounds, 5'6" and Type 3 skier in a 26 boot is a recommended din of 6.5. You don't need to be a ski tech to set a din.

Dude you are basing a din of a mondo size not his BSL. Do you know his age? I highly doubt that someone asking what din they need online knows how to conduct release checks. It's more than just turning a couple screws. It's the ones who do that which end up missing the season with a blown knee.

You don't have to be a ski tech to adjust a DIN? Go walk into a shop and ask the uncertified retail kid to adjust your din.

Again.. I go back to the fact that this thread scares the shit out of me.

Id use a din calculator or go to a shop. Chances are it isnt your din that is making your skis pop off, it is your forward pressure. That can be fixed by someone who knows what they are doing. Changing forward pressure varies binding to binding. Again, if you dont know what youre doing, id go to someone who does.

The vast majority of skiers outside the USA are using equipment that has been set up without actually testing if the binding falls within the inspection torque range. It's fairly normal, and in my opinion safe.

For all you know the dude is a bad skier (I'm not saying he is).. landing 50 shades of wrong and torquing the shit out of his ski. If this is the case, you telling him to "slowly bump up the din on the toe or heel" could be disastrous to both his body and season. Additionally, him asking this question doesn't reassure me that he knows what you mean by "slowly bump" his DIN up. You could mean one thing and he could interpret it another.

Also, the dude said, " I don't know my boot sole exactly but I think it is around a 26." He is straight up GUESSING that's his boot size. What's his age? Are you 100% sure he's not above 50? You are assuming he is an expert skier.. do you have any reference to judge that off? Do you know he understands how to check his forward pressure? DIN settings are not a dick sizing contest and with the risk of screwing it up.. it's not something to be asking or recommending to someone over the internet.

OP, go to a shop and explain everything. If they make any changes ask them to show you what they are doing and learn what and why it's happening. Don't go into it blindly.

Obviously going to a ski tech is probably better than adjusting them yourself. But it's no different than like working on your own car. If you ask for help on the internet and DIY you will probably be fine. I mean of course there could be disaterous consquences, but there probably wont be.

A "certified ski tech" can be an 18 year old kid with two weeks experience. It's super easy to know how to read a DIN chart, and test a binding. It's not rocket science.

There are a ton of factors that make binding testing kind of BS. For example how do you know your tibia isn't stronger/weaker than average? Why does your leg magically become 15% weaker the day you turn 50. Why can your release setting change if your boot changes by 1mm in length. Not to mention the inspection range for bindings is huge. Like you can pretty much test it with your foot on snow to that accuracy.

Quit being such dorks.

You are following the rules... which is good. but park skiing was not taken into consideration when those din charts were made. Different forces are being used, and there is no set system to accurately gauge din for park skiing since there are too many variables. I fall under a 6 on the din chart and I would hurt myself much more on those dins than if I used the din I'm on now... and I actually have (For the love of fucking god dont change the din without telling the ski owner @shop techs).

You have specialized knowledge in one area of skiing, but that definitely doesn't translate to another. Stop acting like you know everything about this.

The kid came online and asked about DIN and didn't even know his MONDO size let alone BSL. Somebody was suggesting a DIN to him over the internet.. if you seriously can't figure out why that is a horrible fucken idea then I don't know what to tell you. You are spewing off common sense as if nobody understands that. It's pretty obvious that a skier lapping a park is going to adjust their DINS differently if they are dropping no fall zones in the dolomites, lapping a park, or just cruising the hill. I was simply stating that the guy was pretty clueless about DIN settings and taking information from some Jerry on the internet is probably not the smartest idea as, like you stated, fucking them up (yes based on how you are skiing) can end your season or career.

You set it off on the right step.

Again, all I am saying is for him to go to a ski shop and they will help him out instead of listening to some keyboard warriors. Some kid jumped all over that recommendation so I defended my point that suggesting a DIN because he had no fucken clue what he is skiing, how he is skiing, the damage on his skis/boots, why his skis are pre releasing, etc. Instead of just guessing.. just take them to a shop and problem solved.

Now.. can we go enjoy a god damn beer or are you to caught up in park politics to actually enjoy skiing?
