How many pilots are there on here? I don't have my pilot's license but I have two cousins who got it in high school, one of whom is now a certified flight instructor, so maybe I should!?

Just finished groundschool, will have my licence this summer. If you have the spare cash, and the opportunity, defs go for it! Its fucking expensive, even more than skiing, cars and pussy combined. Besides, having a plane gives you a fuckton more opportunities to get into deep backcountry.

Well you have to go to officer school to try to get a pilot slot. There's a huge shortage right now tho.

JAHpowWell you have to go to officer school to try to get a pilot slot. There's a huge shortage right now tho.


You need a uni degree and have to become am officer to do that. If you have a little cash, look into an intro lesson or ultralights just to fuck around with. A PPL is awesome to have, but expensive, and I wouldnt have got mine if I hadn't won some scholarships. Also look into the army. You will probably fly helis, (ugly but dope), and you dont need to be an officer. Idk about the army national guard, but I don't think its that hard to get an active duty flying slot. Shoot frenchy a message, hes infantry but will probably know more about joining than me.

I don't have one but my step dad is one. Went to through the Air Force and flew some pretty cool jets and served for a while. Pretty much got his whole schooling paid for and got to do some pretty cool things in the process while living around the world for a few years. Then, he got put on the reserve and picked up a job with United and now fly's 757s. Willing to try to answer any questions if anybody has some but I'd have to probably contact him for a majority of them haha.

I have a college degree so I'm not sure what else I'd have to do. But yeah my friends dad is a Captain for AA and his son is going that route and just soloed. But he said how's the time to get in and the NG would be a great way since you'd get paid to get your hours instead of the opposite.

Unfortunately I didn't.. my cousin is about to start flying the training aircraft for the Navy flight school though and I'm stoked about that!!!

Ya, Guard would be a great gig. Especially if you can get hired by a unit that's in a place you want to live and stay. If you go through Air Force pilot training (which you would as a guard guy), you can take the commercial test right after and pass it. I never studied for it once and I was fine.

Helicopter pilot based in Washington here. My schedule is pretty flexible, so days I'm not working I can just take off and go ski which is sweet. Currently a Flight Instructor so if any of you fools want to learn to fly, let's go out fer a rip
