Height for drop-in?

erickson660So I've been planning on a summer/winter backyard setup for a while now. Ive got an old picnic table that I have fortified and ill put it on the edge of my deck. All in all it should be about 4 ft. tall. Will this be enough for a ~10' pvc rail?

4ft will probably work for a 10' PVC rail in the winter but would be questionable in the summer. I'd go at least 6' tall (or more) if possible if you're serious about making it summer setup-able

NP man. Use some of that trig you learned in school to figure out your angle when building it - for turf, try to keep it at least 35 degrees or steeper (above 45 probably gets sketch tho - shoot for 35-40). I used a 10 ft long ramp off of a 6 ft tall platform for a 37 degree angle and had pretty solid speed for turf. Above everything, the key is to make a smooth transition, or you'll lose all your speed.

It could work, but look at it this way. I've never heard anyone complain about having too much speed in the summer.

Bigger is def better imo within reason.

Lets say you build it too big and somehow it's too fast. Now you dont have to try to pump in as far, and you can extend the run in, built a taller rail, lengthen the rail etc and be good. If you build it too short you'll just be dying to find waits to get speed.

There are people who have made short ish dropins work but it never hurts to go big imo.

4ft is too short for summer. Winter you'll probably be good, but yeah you'll need around 6'

I built mine above 6 and wish I had done more like 7 or 8
