Differences Between 2013 FKS and 2016 FKS

I have a broken part of my brakes on my FKS 140s and was looking at ordering new brakes in, est cost is about $100cad after shipping to my door.
I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any specific differences or if in this case brakes are brakes and the new model brakes will fit my older model brakes. Any help would be appreciated! Called local shops but they didn't know and unfortunately the internet is too broad to find information so specific.

as far as i know the heel piece on the fks hasn't had a major design update that would make the brakes not compatible. you know that your going to have to completely disassemble the heel and than put it back together? that is usually the reason people dont bother with the job.

They haven't changed just make sure you order the right brake mm, for example if your ski is 96 underfoot a 95mm brake would work.

there is no 2016 fks.

anyways.. the heel of the pivot for 2016 is the same as the 2013 fks

bruh the look pivot is the fks lol, rossignol is look, all the binding from here on out will say look not rossignol. The rossignol fks and the look are the same exact thing

actually. they have always been a look binding and rossignol just slapped their name on them. as of 2016 they stopped doing this as it was redundant.

So I'm going to jack this thread so I won't have to make a new one for such a similar question, I got a killer deal on some pivot 14s but they had 115 mm breaks so they are super wide, anyways the breaks kept getting caught and messed up and I wanted to swap out for some 95 mm. My local shop said it's impossible and that I would need a completely new binding. Is it possible to swap out break pieces? Is my shop full of gapers who have never seen pivots?

It's possible to switch out just the brakes, but it's not easy at all. Also you can't just order the brake from look/rossignol. You can order the entire bottom half of the heelpiece though. It's not cheap though. Will cost over $100.

You best bet is to take the binding off the ski. Straighten the brake out, and then rebend it narrower. Assuming you have a very hot torch.

I tried messing with the brakes in the same situation as you. I popped the brake out of the stomp pad insert for it, and couldnt get it back in. I tried for months to get that thing back but it never worked. I honestly don't know if its possible without special tools for it.

Rule of thumb: Binding brakes should be no wider than 15mm than the ski (thats 7.5mm on each side)

Thanks but its not worth it for my situation. Those things are fucked. I also meant the spring, not the brakes. That fucking spring is a bitch to get back under the stomo pad. Its happpened twice and i just gave up on fixing it

actually there was a 2016 FKS, but there was no 2017 FKS. the current model year is the latter of the two years in the season. This season is 2017.

Slightly different topic... But I just recently realized that the NEW fks/pivot 18 AFD's are not compatible with pre-re-release fks/pivot toe pieces.

For anyone that cares. Heads up.
