How many people here truely mount POW skis in the center

Ive been to -2 on pow skis, always dead center on park skis\ all mountains but I just got some Volkl Ones and Im thinking dead center.. its so much more fun and feels more even. any suggestions why this isnt the best mount.. FYI I do ski switch at least half the time..

I have a pair of jjs mounted center. I wouldnt recommend it for anything other than hitting bc booters. Its very hard to land any sizeable hit on them without getting sent over the front.

Probably. Im not sure how the volkls ride though so its hard to say.

Keep in mind that you ski switch differently than regula,r so back from isn't necessarily bad for switch.

You ski switch differently than forward, so going back from center may not negatively affect your switch skiing.

how you ski doesn't really change that you lose length in the front which will directly change how you control your skis. Obviously the smaller the mount from center, the less of a direct change it will have.

I used to ride pow skis -3 from center, but now I go all the way back. It just rides so much better when you need to power through heavy deep snow, and it's way more stable, especially in chop. I can't ride forward mounted pow skis anymore, although I don't ride switch much in pow, and I still have plenty of friends that still go center for powder skiing.

Mounted my petitors at -2 and it's spot on. Not to centred to land some gnarlier features and charge pretty hard through crap. Still has pretty decent swing weight and switch skiing ability if you land switch not that I'm throwing huge spins though more floaty stuff.

I've skied a few pow skis at true centre because landing switch in pow is, without question, my favourite thing to do on skis. However at centre in pow you give up so much forward performance that I've concluded it just isn't worth the tradeoff. In general -2cm seems to be the money zone for me, though it depends a bit on the ski. It doesn't seem to affect landing switch much and it makes the forward performance significantly better.

You won't know until you try, but dead centre on a powder ski doesn't make a lot of sense in my books. I'd recommend that for your first pow skis you should ski them as intended by the manufacturer, and then when you have a bit of experience then you'll understand the consequences of center mounting powder skis. If not that, then be conservative if your mounting. Personally even -2 is far too forward for a powder ski, but that's just because I like skiing through trees and don't want 3 feet of tail behind me that will buck me into a tree. I'm assuming you're asking this question because you haven't skied a lot of pow in pow skis yes??

Lol. If you ski your skis in the same way front or switch, you must be a terrible forwards skier haha

i like -2 to -3, doesn't matter what kinda skier you are you're not gonna be skiing switch as much in the pow as you are in the park

Just picked up some used Volkl Ones and thinking of center mounting them and wondering what you ended up going with? and how it performed?

I have the first Hellbents center mounted I think it's like the only way to make such a gigantic ski somewhat manageable. But they have a ridiculous amount of rocker and are almost symmetrical so it's not really an issue of going over the handlebars, it's nice to have a ton of tail behind you also because they are so soft.
