Need solution to helmet problem...

Before you send me to the helmet thread, I want you to know, I've been there. Yes, it is helpful and I will be looking into the replies.

However, my current helmet (Giro Bevel) is not very tight around my head. If I hit the ground fairly hard, or rock my head side to side it slips off.

When I ski I wear a hat along with my goggle strap underneath my helmet. I understand that these are probably the reason for my 'loose helmet symptoms' but, a lot of people wear their gear like this, as well as the pros, who throw massive tricks with huge flips and spins, I've never seen their helmets get loose. I wanted to see if others face the same problems. If you have recommendations of any kind, I would be very appreciative.

If your helmets too big youve gotta get a new helmet I guess...

It seems like this is the answer, unfortunately. It sounds like it's too big and I don't think there is anything you an do about that.

Are you saying it's too big with or without your hat/goggles on?

If it's too big even with everything on, yes get a new helmet. And if you plan to continue wearing your hat/goggles underneath, try on helmets and get one that fits that way.

If it's too big without your hat and goggles on but fits when they are on then, well, that makes sense. If you want it to fit both ways get like an adjustable one or something. Idk.

Try putting more goggles under there.. thats what the pros do.

Maybe just find a thicker hat to wear underneath if you dont want to get a new helmet. Grow your hair out. Put the pads back on the inside if youve taken them out for your beanie.

Thanks for the responses. I think it's just cuz my helmet was too big. I feel like wearing the hat and goggles underneath might also be slightly the cause since it might lessen the grip of the actual helmet... unless no one else has had that problem.

If anything that would make it fit tighter because you are putting more stuff under it. I wear my goggles and stuff under my helmet when I ski and have never had this problem. Make sure when you get a helmet to try it on first with your stuff

You gotta bake it in the oven and then put it on your head really fast when its still hot. It will heat mold to your head for a perfect fit.

Your helmet should be snug, not an echo chamber for your head. Can you fit fingers up in it?
