What do you think about boot heaters (electric)?

All I know is my buddy CONSTANTLY complains about his feet being absolutely freezing. So much so he goes to his truck during a ski day to take his boots off and warm his feet under the heater . He doesn't want to pay the 250$ for the electric heaters so he just suffers instead.

First thinking about it I would write them off for old people and sissys but actually thinking about it there are plenty young people who have terrible circulation through no fault of their own and so spending all day with your feet surrounded by ice is going to make you quite uncomfortable so I'd give them a pass for anybody with shite circulation.

One thing which some people dont know is that if you overtighten the buckle/cable over the top of your foot you can easily cut off/restrict the circulation to your lower foot, giving you cold feet. In this case you're boot isnt fitting properly and you need to go and see a boot fitter.

Hotronic-style electronic heaters are an archaic thing of the past. If someone truly has cold toe problems, heated socks (i.e. Lenz) are the way to go. They work super well, don't mess up the fit of your boots, and can be used in other footwear (winter cycling, snowmobiling, hunting, etc).

But for most people, being in the right boot for your foot's needs, having supportive footbeds, and buckling your boots at the proper tension works to keep your feet warm enough for skiing.

socks, man. It's all about having the right socks. And a lot of them. One particularly cold days, I will always pack at least two pairs, sometimes 3, of good socks. I'm a big of Smartwool and prefer a thin, light sock. Moisture is a major facet of foot warmth, so a good moisture-wicking sock will keep your foot warm. Swapping them out when they get damp is key.

Same here. I swear by the combo of thin merino liner sock, and intuition liners.

This - proper boots and a thin merino wool sock should be enough for a majority of the skiing population.
