Scuba Shop Overfilled My BCA cylinder

Someone might as well use this forum. Title says it, they maxed out my cylinder at 3000 psi, from what I read (not much available) there's no bleed-off or way to fix it without emptying. Will I blow up my bag if I go to pull it with too much air in the cylinder?

Take it back to the shop and have them blow it. They have a way to bleed it while on the compressor. Don't try it at home.

So I took it back to the dive shop I got it filled at, the guy said he couldn't do anything about letting air out. Something about one way valves, and there's no bleed off on the cylinder itself. I didn't have my backpack with me but when I get home I am either going to try to pull the rip cord without having it hooked up to the bag, or if that doesnt work just say fuck it and hope the bag doesn't tear. I didn't think this would end up being such a hassle.

Ah .. you said that .... I have fired mine off at 2900 and its worked out ok.

But, its easy enough to just pop the cylinder without it connected if you are worried.

I bet they filled it too fast. Next time ask them to fill it very slowly.

So what I did was pull it with my finger on the release valve to keep the bag from overfilling. Might have been paranoid but oh well I am back in action.

This place has like a big digital readout of the PSI as it's filling, like half their little store is regulators and bottled gas containers and shit, it's pretty legit I was just too dumb to tell them not to top it off. Apparently in diving it's like a huge no no to short someone on a tank filling, because you know, breathing and stuff.

Avy cylinders need to be filled much slower than SCBA or paintball tanks ... it has do with the temps it creates, and the fact that there is no manual bleed valve.

Hopefully they can figure it out next time.
