How to Teach Your Girlfriend to Ski

I want to give some advice to a friend who has found a girl who doesn't ski. What are some tips that we can give to him for teaching her? More women skiers! More girl power!

That falling is ok and he'll be there to pick her up *awe romantic factor*

Plus telling her when she's "killing it" on a few turns or "try again you've almost got it" when she falls - even if it's small improvements. I feel like most girls I've ever skied with, even ones that have been skiing for years, get super self conscious around boyfriends/guys of interest and that might help.

And reinforce the fact that she's not embarrassing him if she sucks at first, she's allowed to suck if she's new and too many guys get all huffy about that. If he doesn't like her enough to take the patience and time with her then he might need to consider the relationship. And not in a negative way, but some people don't like to teach and that's just how they are and that might make him need a different kind of girl haha.

Remind him that its about her having a good time and learning. If he treats her like a burden she's not going to want to go again. Patience and kindness go a long way. Also if you're not falling, you're not trying hard enough!!!

I always recommend lessons as well though. I have taught both kiddos (as a ski instructor) and adults (just for some friends), and teaching an adult to ski is way harder.

THIS. I hate teaching people personally. So I always recommend lessons to save a friendship/relationship bc I unfortunately don't have the gift or patience of teaching a beginner

friends teaching each other or couples teaching each other doesnt usually go well..

too easy to get angry and frustrated with each other lol

I know lessons are kinda pricy sometimes but it may be a good idea so she can get a grip on a level one progression in skiing so get the basics down - and then help her build up her skills personally! A lesson will definitely teach her some core skills she will need.

Trueee. Anytime i try to teach my sister in the park, i end up yelling at her and then she cries and it never ends well. Unless the person teaching is wicked nice and patient then id recommend getting a lesson

yup - my boyfriend is my park coach and i usually just get really pissed at him cause he's being an asshole about it lol but I mean its been effective somewhat.. I land things in spite of him I guess.

My ex boyfriend and his mum and dad actually taught me to ski... I think it helped having others around who were just as patient about it...

Definitely recommend showing her some "how to ski" you tube videos like the very very basics so she knows what she's getting into.

Then yeh see how she goes... some people pick it up so easy and get the basics down really well so they can like work on confidence and shit on their own for a day or so and Bf just does a few laps with her, I found this worked for me and the only other girl who I ski with.

personally, i fucking hate it when my SO tells me what to do. maybe that's just my strong personality, but i think a lot of other women feel the same way. it can get degrading to have a man like TEACH you how to do shit. i second the lesson idea.

I tried dating a park instructor.... I definitely do not recommend if you like to keep your independence and sanity ...

Tru. Speaking from experience. First serious boyfriend - park crew and insane on features. His friends were the ones that taught me a lot bc he worked a ton, so features never took a toll on the relationship (but I've skied forever so that prob helped). But last guys - also rats. Just tall tees and wavy hair = happiness
