I swore I'd never post on NS again, but this..wow...I just can't believe it.
Marker. No. Just no. Please. For the love of god and all that is holy: No.
I've teched for years. In shops that put yours to shame Freezy. Volume wise. Quality wise. Reputation wise. I've tech'd for more racers, high level freestyle athletes, hardcores, and local legends than you EVER will. I've seen every binding on the market, and mounted/adjusted/fucked around with them more than you can fathom. I've learned one thing: You do not, under any fucking circumstance, trust a Marker binding. Unless, of course, you can afford orthopedic surgery, or live in Canada and can afford to deal with an 8 month waiting list.
Why? Pre release under all circumstances, poor design, poor hold in ALL skis, but, oddly enough, especially on the Karma and Gotama, as of this year anyways, and worst of all, a high failure rate. How high? Swallow this: The Marker MRR, their race level turntable heelpiece binding, had a 100% return rate. We're talking race stock here. Not some high production volume 10 DIN stock binding.
No one who has the opportunity to use a Marker binding to make more money does so. Why is that Freezy? What, are you going to tell me that Marker is the #1 binding on the World Cup now? Not only do I fail to see how that is at all relevant, seeing as World Cup level racing is a completely different style of skiing from that which we participate in, but it might not even be true. There are no, as far as I can tell, solid figures of who runs what bindings. Yes, you can get such figures from binding manufacturers, but like someone above me said, they, at best, conflict with each other. Who's lying Freezy?
What now? Oh, the test...the infamous binding test. You know what's funny about that test? No one in Canada bothers with it. You know why? because it's only designed to keep your shop from losing a court case in your over-litigated country. It has nothing to do with any kind of performance ideals, and everything to do with liability. In other words: You aren't required to test the binding to make sure it works. You're required to test it ONLY to make sure your shop can win court cases. In reality, the binding tests you put your faith in mean shit fuck all.
I'm sick of fuckers like you coming onto NS and repping shit you get for free or cheap from some rep. You bought it Freezy, hook, line, and sinker. I may certainly have my opinions on gear, but they're founded in objectivity. Yours are framed by whoever gives you a pro form.
People like you are the reason I'm done with this fucking website. I hope you do choke on the Marker rep's cock.
Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.
