CampeadorWe've lost a great man, Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

S.J.WIs this the same ceampeador that rips on Bernie Sanders for wanting to improve healthcare and education and is "communist" but you now praise Castro? What the fuck. I clicked on this thread wanting a laugh. Fuck it. We're trading places.
Good fucking riddens to a dirty scumbag commie.

WPMattHonestly, the amount of people that actually have any shred of positive feeling for Castro is disgusting. My bro is from cuba and his uncle spent 15 years locked in a fucking shit hole prison for speaking against him at a school assembly. He was a ruthless, heartless, cruel, iron fisted dictator with every shred of humanity beat out of him. Good fucking riddence
foolmetwiceI think celebrating castro is like celebrating most US presidents. They will have done some good things while also having commited unthinkable attrocities. The major difference I see is that when the US commits attrocities, wether it be against it's own people or through imperialism abroad, they are on a much larger scale than anything castro was able to do, same with the platform to do good that a US president has. I also understand why many people of color and women both in cuba and abroad revere him as possibly the first leader to follow up words with actions in terms of consistently working to empower and stand up for the equal rights of women and poc. In fact poor people, people of color, and women (who combined, made up a large majority of cubas pre revolution population) were indisputibly better off in terms of quality of life, economic status, and general freedoms post castro vs pre castro, and arguably better off than many of their counter parts who have been left behind in major western countries including the US.
