Revision Messed Up

So, back in September I was looking around for a new pair of skis for this season. After hours of searching, someone recommended revision skis. They look sick so I got them for a sick deal during the pre-sale. There was only one slight issue, the skis ship date was "mid November" although that was kinda annoying I knew I wouldn't be skiing at all between now and that time. Fast foward almost 3 months and I still havent heard from them, so I sent them an email regarding the shipping. They said that they would contact me in the next week for an Update. They sent another email a few days later saying they ran into some issues during production. "Due to some quality inconsistencies, we made the decision to rebuild a good portion of our skis". At that time I was like "ok, well I would rather wait 2-3 more weeks for solid skis then get low-quality skis now". They also said they would send another email in about a week for a new ETA. I got the email this morning and they said the new shipping date would be THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY. Thats almost have way into the ski season. I'm disappointed because the skis looked so fun but theres no way im waiting that long.


But thats not all, they also gave me (and all other customers) a $100 coupon to there website. Sure I appreciate them going out of there way to do that because they definitely feel bad abut this whole situation, but $100 is not gonna keep me waiting around for another month and a half. So, what do you guys think. Are any of you guys in the same Boat as Me?
Could this issue possibly be the end of revision?

I believe epic planks was bills first attempt at a ski company. And well lets just say I think they made it 3 seasons and don't think its around any more. And I believe Batalla skis was a project bill was heavily involved in. And well lets just say that company lasted 2 years is not around any more. Seems to be a stunning pattern.

There is a lot I would say to Bill. On one hand he got me started in this industry many years ago. But what he did to me, and everyone associated with Revision, is unforgivable. I hope for the sake of his family everything is okay and that they are doing well. But god damnit how can someone do that to such a tight-knit team who (in part or in whole) depended on him to make ends meet. Not to mention the countless kids who have not (and probably will not) get their skis/money back.


Yeah dude, come down anytime! Sorry that you got caught up in all of this, but glad to see you're riding on brotha!

Read the guy is/was a journalist of some sort so portraits makes sense. If recalled correctly, someone in the thread mentioned they had a home phone and they actually had the wife on the phone for a brief moment. So this makes some sense - can’t believe it’s still at this point tho

She isnt part of his business mess up as far as I can tell.
I also think part of it was that they got divorced which may have led to the company going down.

I have no idea how the business got to this point, or if they are divorced. The divorce that for sure took down a ski company was Klint.

As for part of the business, the wife is listed on the Profit Corporations Reports that are public record going back to 2014, so she is at the very least some sort of legal officer of the business. Only comfortable posting this because the address is a Pak Mail address, but this stuff is all easily available public record. She is an officer every year going back to 2014

Just a heads up - pulled these. I think it is appropriate to ensure the children are kept out of this entirely, as they have no part in it. If you want to post them up edited, so be it, but let's leave the kids out of this mess.

I have no idea on that front - you could be totally right here. I just do know the story with Klint was that a divorce wiped out the company's funding.

From 2013:
"If anyone is still following this thread, here is what happened. You all can say how poorly they ran things, how dumb it was to do this and to do that but actually that isn't it at all. The owners wife divorced him. She had a big part in the company. Along with the owner his wife had a lot of money into Klint. As part of the divorce she totally removed herself from the company and took a good chunk of the funding away from the company. The owner all of a sudden lost a lot of financial support so that forced him to stop paying riders at the start of the new year, 2013. All riders got their payments for 2012. They treated their riders with respect, I know cause I was one. They also had the best product I have ever skied. There is the scoop on "What happened to Klint skis." It also goes hand in hand that it was in fact a terrible winter and ski sales for all companies were down from average. Basically.. shit happened. You can't predict something like this. "

zero*It's a pretty clouded situation overall. The basic gist is that the brands (Epic Planks/Batalla) had an ongoing working relationship and overlapping history. At some point Batalla were produced by epic planks. Towards the end Batalla were setting up their own ski factory and Epic Planks went out of business, I don't know for sure if those two things were causally related. I have heard rumours that some of the tooling for Batalla's factory was from Epic Planks. As I said, it's a clouded and proof of that is hard to come by because of a lawsuit...

What is known to be true, is that there was a lawsuit involving Bill Wanrooy (perhaps as part of 'Epic Planks' at the time) suing Batalla skis and winning. The settlement ultimately put Batalla skis out of business and Bill took the money from the suit to set up Revision.

Batalla were bankrupt and therefore unable to fulfill ski orders. The owners and brand were also legally bound by the settlement not to publicly comment on the details of the case. I've heard that is why customers of Batalla never got any explanation of goings on. It is also why the full story never came out, but has been alluded to in published stories about the whole saga.

I'm sure there is someone on here who knows the intricate details better than me, but that's the basic story from what I've heard.

Unfortunately yes. TJ went silent on the whole team and shut up shop. I’ve tried asking around to get the real details but the only thing that came back was manufacturing issues at the new place.

Some easy research using facebook and Scott's post about his wife indicates that he is not divorced, living in Kalamazoo area and is alive. From a human story pov I am intrigued. What would cause someone to do this. It really doesn't sound like he is a huge piece and that he is more than likely dealing with some personal issues and legal issues. No one can keep this quiet about things unless they are suicidal or bound by the law.

Run them all through the mud, they took thousands and are carrying on like it wasn't shit. But yea, let's be nice! It's not like we got the wrong fucking guy like reddit with a bomber. They did this shit, they deserve everything they brought upon themselves.

Dude if we involve r/skiing on reddit people will probably shit on it bc those guys are your typical main stream riders. I lurk often and they’re not the same caliber as here (this isn’t hate, it’s just a statement) - however some guy claimed his old boss was the yellow jacket on Js new skis, so that should show some age.

If you really wanna do this, you’d need to take it to r/prorevenge or some page that actually has potential to get to the front page. It’s rare a ski post on r/skiing makes it past a few hundred votes. But what do i know, you can literally post this thing multiple times to get as much exposure as you can. Redditors are also very against doxing users, but if it’s the general public they’ll have a field day.

It wouldn't make it on r/prorevenge unless we actually got his ass in trouble in court. Then it'd be a very good r/prorevenge story.

Until then, it's just a dead end. I don't know what subreddit would be good for this story tbh. I don't know how much more Reddit could do either. We know who he is, we know (roughly I believe) where he lives, and we know he's a piece of shit. We don't know motive and the only way to get the motive is for someone to befriend him and slowly pry it out.

You’re not wrong. Which is why reddit is like a brilliant idea but tough to execute. Kids who are closest to home to him will need to keep their eyes open for him in the public setting which is the hard part. He clearly is trying to keep his life offline
