Revision Messed Up

So, back in September I was looking around for a new pair of skis for this season. After hours of searching, someone recommended revision skis. They look sick so I got them for a sick deal during the pre-sale. There was only one slight issue, the skis ship date was "mid November" although that was kinda annoying I knew I wouldn't be skiing at all between now and that time. Fast foward almost 3 months and I still havent heard from them, so I sent them an email regarding the shipping. They said that they would contact me in the next week for an Update. They sent another email a few days later saying they ran into some issues during production. "Due to some quality inconsistencies, we made the decision to rebuild a good portion of our skis". At that time I was like "ok, well I would rather wait 2-3 more weeks for solid skis then get low-quality skis now". They also said they would send another email in about a week for a new ETA. I got the email this morning and they said the new shipping date would be THE FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY. Thats almost have way into the ski season. I'm disappointed because the skis looked so fun but theres no way im waiting that long.


But thats not all, they also gave me (and all other customers) a $100 coupon to there website. Sure I appreciate them going out of there way to do that because they definitely feel bad abut this whole situation, but $100 is not gonna keep me waiting around for another month and a half. So, what do you guys think. Are any of you guys in the same Boat as Me?
Could this issue possibly be the end of revision?

The guy's an asshole, but abusing him isn't going to fix the situation. It'll probably make it even worse. Do you really think receiving this kind of communication is going to make him feel like he should do anything to rectify what's happened?


What Revision and Bill are doing and did was way more unprpfessional than an email that was probably not even read.
Also, the ski industry is not built on skiers being professional in a business sense, polite or sophisticated.

But adhering to "professionalism" is something that I, personally, haven't found useful since my time in the oil and gas industry, long before the ski industry. Sure, sometimes you spout off and get pecker slapped, but I've found that everyone, from your piers to CEOs of multinational corporations, appreciate being genuine over cloaking your personality in some flaccid facade and call it being "professional". So with that being said....

Not adding anything new here but thought I would chip in - same boat as many, pre-ordered Talismans in August, eventually asked for a refund around December, was told it had been processed, still nothing. Used a currency card to pay for them to avoid shitty exchange rates from £ to $ so it's proving difficult to dispute the charge. Pretty much accepting it as $380 down the drain. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Seriously, walk in there with a go pro or something and call them out. Have the names of the people who posted here saying they dont have their preorders refunded or fulfilled and be a huge ass hole until they throw you out. Then post that shit all over.

With so many complaints about Revision I'm not sure why they aren't piling up for a class action suit.

I would recommend reaching out to your bank/card company and asking if you can still issue a charge-back on your account. However, because it's been so long, they may have trouble finding the transaction (I ran into this problem when getting my refund back around mid-March but it got sorted out).

Also, if your bank is able to find the transaction and issue a charge-back, Revision might try to hit you with some "It's been past 120 days so you can't legally get your money back" spiel that is complete bullshit.

But yeah, contact the people who handle your money and you might still have a chance at getting it back

who do you think is going to spend the time and money doing something? you think some lawyer was going to hear about this and come produce a class action lawsuit against some shitty fly-by-night ski company? or do you think one of the boned customers is going to add expensive and time-consuming legal action over a pair of skis into their already packed work and lifestyle?

people have shit to do. the proactive customers have done what they can through their bank and gone back to living their lives. i don't know who or what you expect to be putting time and money into this

meh, even if legitimate legal action isn't taken i would think that pressure within the ski community would force them to do something. revision has some pretty prominent riders, one of which was in an edit on the front page of newschoolers (the jiberish edit). lots of other people in the ski industry know this Bill scumbag - has no one close to him reached out to figure out what the fuck is going on? I guess at this stage in the game it might be too late but it amazes me that there hasn't been any formal (or informal) backlash from those directly associated with Revision or those close to Bill

Exactly what I've been wondering, he's a ski company owner in Colorado, I think other ski company owners, reps, or athletes would know him too and be in frequent contact. He pay people to stay quiet? Lol

Close but not exactly true, as they do not live in Colorado.

I hate seeing this happen to everyone involved, including myself as I have had zero contact back from anyone at Revison as well.

Hoping for the best and everyone gets their gear at the very least, considering I personally backed them for so long.

It hasn't dropped because I have a full time job, and a life, both of which are not related to Newschoolers.
I wasn't assigned this by Twig or Doug. I'm trying to write this story because I think it needs to be done by someone, and obviously no one else has stepped up to the plate. At this rate, there's a good chance I won't even get paid to write what will end up being a 1,000-3,000 word story, but that's not the point.
Newschoolers has an open content system, you can write the article if you want.
If I'm going to write it, I'm going to take my time, and do it to my standards, especially if I'm not getting paid to do it.

And adding this : If NS admins are busy, anyone can write an article and it would be really cool to see a nice segment from someone who was personally wronged by revision. Maybe talk about the steps you had to take to get your money back so others who aren't informed of the thread can get that info from the article. There are WAY too many kids who got screwed here and $300-400 is no pocket change. Besides, get a decent article up about thoughts and opinions, maybe link this thread, throw a poll on it, and let people comment. This is the kinda thing that you want to show up on Facebook so no one gets wronged again when "pre-orders" occur again. Seriously any of you guys who ordered and dealt with the constant delayed email messages could write an article. Just post a link on this thread if you submit it... and, ya know, make sure you spell check.

I think what you guys have in mind in terms of an article and what Sklar has in mind are different. I definitely don't disagree with you here. Someone should put the word out. But I think Sklar's approach involved getting answers from Revision so people knew what was going on on Revision's side of things. Or at least that's my interpretation of what's up. I don't know. Don't yell at me.

While I totally understand where you are coming from with being busy with a full time job and life outside of NS not allowing you the proper time to create this piece, I'm kind of disappointed you are bringing money into the equation. I realize you said "but that's not the point" in regards to getting paid, but then you went on to mention money again at the end of your comment. If you are passionate about journalism and the the sport of skiing I would assume this story would be personal enough to warrant money not being an excuse. Especially considering the magnitude of the story is likely to provide some decent exposure (in comparison to other ski "news").

I don't want you to take this the wrong way, I really do appreciate you going out of your way to deliver quality content ESPECIALLY on your own dime. I also realize this isn't something that can just be created overnight (but let's not forget this has gone on for months). So maybe I'm directing this comment towards the wrong person. Maybe it's NS at fault for not putting more efforts into getting this piece created? What makes you say "at this rate there's a good chance I wont even get paid."? I would assume that of all the articles for NS to pay out, one of this scope would definitely be compensated. Bishop, chime in here will ya. The people want answers.
