Windham Mountain NY Opening

Windham opens this Friday and is the closest mountain to me to open this season so far. I've never skied Windham in the early season and am driving 2 hours up there on Sunday. Was wondering what the early season there is like and what to expect for jibs/features. I know it's supposed to snow Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday so hopefully it'll be good.

I too live in the East, quite close to Windham, Bellayre, etc.. I tend to go up on opening weekend, but beware it's busy. Sadly, you're not the only one with the skiing itch and hundreds of people sharing five runs gets really busy and crowded. While Windham hasn't commented about their jibs and features, they're pretty good with maintaining and running their parks. You can follow windhamparks on instagram where they give updates on their parks. On November 22 windhamparks posted "OPENING DAY FRIDAY NOVEMBER 25TH! Starting at 8am you could have as much fun as our Park Manager did today.." If you're looking for a good park you might want to head the extra 45 minutes (depending on where you live) to Mount Snow. Their parks (carinthiaparks) opened today with 15 features.

Lmao if he's driving 2 hours up to windham snow is another 2 and half from there

Cant speak to whether or not windham will have features open, but their parks have improved so much in the past couple years...new people and they sunk tens of thousands into new jibs...I had a absolute blast the couple of times I went last year

Mt Snow for me is 3 hours 30 and Windham is 2 hours 25 if you were in the middle of Windham and Snow you could squeeze 1 hour to Windham and 1 hour 30 to Snow. Windham will definitely open with features, but wouldn't think it'd be more than 10. One thing about early season skiing is to understand that it will probably be busy, possibly patchy, and if temps don't cooperate slushy.

As long as there's 3-4 good rails I'll prob end up hiking anyway. I'm going to snow for 5 days over New Years for carinthia and would just drive up Sunday but it's a good four hours and I'm not trying to drive 8 hours that day and prob can't even afford the gas and ticket...

Yeah, Sunday we just ripped around in a train and jibbed rocks and trees and shit then hit the little rail park at the end of each run. It was a good time, and Windham had no lift line all day Sunday so we got tons of runs.

I've never skied Windham pre-season. I've skied pre-season before.

Windham was fun they had 6 features set up and they had a lot of snow for this early in the season

If anyone knows anything ab lift lines at Hunter lmk. Windham had none on Sunday and I think I'm bumming a ride up to Hunter this coming Sunday. Although we had a blast at Windham, I'd rather get on a new mountain than ski the same run at Windham for another 8 hours.
