French skiers coming to USA

Hey !

I've been following NS from a while but never created an account. Well it's done now.

We are three french skiers coming to Utah & Colorado to ski the parks we've always seen in video. We are two in the first part of our trip wich is from january 17th to february 15th to ski mostly in Park City and sometimes in Brighton. Then, in mid February, a friend of us arrives and we're planning to go to Colorado to ski in Keystone & Breck until April 13th.

Flights are booked and season pass are buyed but we are having a hard time on finding something. We are looking for a rent or a flasharing, we don't mind sharing a room since we don't have a big budget. The thing is that we don't plan to have a car, we'd like to live next to the bus lines, as close as possible to the ski resorts.

I've been searching for rents and anything in Facebook groups like Summit County housing or Park City forum but nothing popped out yet, despite many tries. Everything is out of our budget.

So that's why i'm posting here ! If anyone is looking for 2 or 3 (depends on the date) roomates to ski with, to enjoy good french meals with or whatever, please contact me !

Any help would be much appreciated !

if you are there for basically the whole season it might be worth buying a car and living slightly further out. Rent in resort is really high but a short drive away becomes alot more reasonable.

This. Even if you don't get a car i bet you have a better chance of hitchhiking into breck or pc. Or just find someone who skis the same days as you and find a way to make it worth their while to pick to you up on the way to the hill.

Eyy Euro brother. I m sorry to disappoint you, but public transportation in America sucks ass except of NY. Thats the reason why everybody over there owns and drives the car to almost everywhere (and gas is cheaper than water too). Maybe buy an old subaru or something similar for like 500-1000 bucks. it will last a season and isnt too expensive when you split it into 3.

Or try to find some staff housing directly at the bottom of the hill you wanna hit a season long.

I remember Breck/Summit county having a decent busing system! It was free too so we were able to stay at Breck and still ski all the other mountains on our pass. Definitely not as quick/convenient as having your own car or in comparison to other public transportation systems but it works!

I havent been to all states tbh but the worst ones are Arkansas, Florida, Vermont and Idaho. Well in Europe we have either free or fking cheap annual fees for a bus ticket. the buses come regularly every weekday. I d say between 30mins to 1h.

Cause OPs is a frenchie I d say he ll be a lil bit confused at first :D

Ahhh gotcha. I come from an area with no public tranpsportation so I though Brecks was actually pretty good hahaha. The more you know I guess lol

Yeah summit and pc and really any big resort town will have a bus system to transport all the broke ski bums who work on the hill and cant afford a car. Ski towns are also a bit more progressive than your average village in flyover country.

Leadville will be a 45 min+ drive, and will be longer and nasty on snowy days. I used to live there, and it is only worth it if you will be at Copper. A daily commute to Breck would be ridiculous. Not an option without a car.

Summit public transport is great between frisco, dillon, abay, key and breck. If you live in proper summit cty then you are ok without a car. NY is an odd comparison, doesn't make sense.

The main benefit of a car, relative to cost, will be the ability to bump the latest Booba or Swaggman album on the way to the hill.

Mammoth Lakes has a good bus system.

For the OP: I guess I would try airbnb. It might be too pricey, but it could be difficult to find housing for just a month. Even if people in a house are losing someone at that time, they will probably want a longer term roommate. Also try Craigslist. You can put out an add for what you want and check other adds.
