Boots/bindings for small and light girl

I wish you the best of luck. I ski a true 22 and had a hell of a time finding boots. For years I got boots off the shelf that people claimed were a 22 but really were a 23 shell with a thicker liner thrown in. I'm not sure if anyone makes a rec 22 boot, so I've just been skiing full plug race boots, which a variety of do actually come in a 22; Atomic Redster, Nordica Doberman WC, Lange WC RPZA.

You have to pre order these kind of boots though, and it's probably too late this season. If you do happen to find some true 22 rec boots let me know, I like to keep these things on my radar. Make sure you cross reference the BSL with the 23 version. I've had more than one boot fitter try to tell me that the boot was a true 22, only to show them that the BSL was the exact same length on the 23.

I have some marker 7 din bindings I'd sell you if you were interested. I also have some other women's 8 din bindings that are brand new in box.

Obviously, the right boot is the one that fits the best but to help in the search since true 22s are not common, all Atomic women's boots that are labeled as 22 are true 22s- shell and liner. 3 available fit options: Hawx Ultra (narrow), Hawx Prime (medium), Hawx Magna (wide) that also come with fully customizable shells, cuffs, and liners.

And even though she might be small, be sure to consult a DIN chart before pulling the trigger on a binding. The smaller the boot, the higher the DIN value needs to be.

The hawx ultra is what we were looking at originally but just thought I'd ask about other options. Thanks for the advice! The problem is that no one carries 22s so trying them before buying is near impossible.

Would the marker squire be a decent binding for her? I know they're not the burliest binding on he market but the din range is where it needs to be. I'm having a hard time finding any reviews on the low din bindings for small people.

Honestly, check out the tyrolia attack 12s or 11s. They're durable, super reliable, and super light. I have 4 pairs of the attack 13s and would never swap them out for any other binding.

The squires would probably be fine, but remember she probably won't need as low as you'd think because of her small foot. The shorter your boot length is the less leverage the ski binding has to hold you in, so you actually go up din ratings with a really small foot.

It's possible to not be on the din chart as an adult with a small boot. Most shops end up asking me what I want my din at, because at 268 BSL and 130lbs advanced + I'm not on the chart at all. They're like "well at intermediate you'd be a 7.5 but then you slide off the chart above that." So I've just found my din through trial and error. I've been pretty happy with 9 right now, which is way higher than some of my much heavier male friends ski.

JaybrtnSo I made a thread a month or so ago about skis for her, which she decided on (salomon lux 92), but it's time to decide on boots and bindings. Now here's the problem. She had a tiny foot. As in barely a 22. Anyone have suggestions on an adult women's boot that either runs true to size or even a little small? She got fitted but the shop didn't have anything that small on hand, and neither do most other shops in the area.

Secondly, any recommendations on a binding that goes down to either 3 or 3.5?

She's 5' and ~97lbs. Beginner level but athletic and quick to pick things up.

She is the exact size as my girlfriend and I had a similarly difficult time finding her boots. Had her fitted by my most trusted bootfitter at our local ski shop and though she found boots that fit her foot, another big problem was most womens boots she couldn't flex because she is so light. She is a decent skier and can get down any mid-atlantic blue and most blacks without any trouble and skis on a set of Atomic Affinity Pures.

The bootfitter ended up putting her in a kids ski boot which I was against at first but I trust him and he has never let me down on my own boots before. She has had the boots for two seasons now and loves them, they fit her well, she can flex them fine, and hasn't had any issues. I believe they are Lange Starlette 60's. Yes again i know its a youth boot but again the best boot is the one that fits and for her, this worked. Good luck it is not easy finding a boot for a very small girl.
